Finding True Peace in a Noisy World – Can We Trust God’s Promise of Peace?

In today’s world, finding real peace often feels like a challenge. Psalm 85:8 reminds us, “I will listen to what God the LORD says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants— but let them not turn to folly.” This verse offers a beautiful promise but also a condition: God’s peace is promised to those who stay faithful and avoid turning to folly.

How can we align our lives to receive this peace God promises? What does it look like for us to “listen” to the Lord in our daily lives?

Amen, Thank You.

Love, Walter

Trusting in God’s promise of peace often begins with surrendering our worries and anxieties to Him. In (Philippians 4:6-7), we are encouraged not to be anxious but to pray, and the peace of God will guard our hearts.

To align my life with this promise, I strive to cultivate a habit of prayer and mindfulness, allowing space for His voice amidst my daily chaos. Listening to the Lord means tuning in during quiet moments, whether through scripture, meditation, or simply being still.

It’s about inviting His presence into my decisions and trusting that His guidance will lead me to tranquility, even in turbulent times. This journey of faith reminds me that His peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but a deep assurance that He is in control.

I don’t disagree that confidence and trust in God are at the core of faith, but these sorts of verses always seem to be applied and discussed in a middle-class American context, where what we call trouble and chaos and a noisy world are not exactly what the Jews awaiting the gas in Auschwitz called it or what the Ukrainians dodging drones and missiles call it now.
