I know forgiveness is important. Since I gave my life to Christ old hurts seem like a different life. Is it important to still forgive those who hurt you if you no longer hold that hurt?
True forgiveness is actually about the restoration of relationship as the offending party asks for forgiveness, This seldom happens as most people never think they ever consider that they have ever done anything wrong.
Forbearing an offense is more common as letting go of an offense allows one to move forward rather than tying oneself to bitterness and recrimination.

I think that the passage of time has a way of lessening the hurt we have, even to the point of not feeling it anymore. Forgiveness is about more than just taking care of our hurt. So I would say yes, it’s important to forgive that person even if the pain of what they did isn’t being felt anymore. Forgiveness is by choice and God commands us to do it. It isn’t about letting the other person off the hook for what they did. If anything, it takes us off their hook. We can do this because of the forgiveness we’ve received from God. How can we not forgive their sin when God has forgiven our sin? In this, we are His children and becoming more like Jesus who forgave the men who were crucifying Him.
