Praying for winning games, praying for fun on vacation or that the car dealership will have the car you want in the color you want.
Are these shallow, considering the wars, suffering, and starvation in this world?

So basically, is there a concern so small that God doesn’t wish us to share it with him?
I think if it more as a concern so petty we should be embarrassed to request it.
Here’s a line from the Kendrick brother’s movie ‘Facing the Giants’
FOOTBALL PLAYER: You think God cares about winning football games?
COACH: Yes, I think God cares about winning football games because He cares about you.
To me that applies to every aspect of our lives. We should never be scared or embarrassed to ask God for/about anything. He’s our heavenly Father; He wants us to include Him in every single aspect of our lives. Besides, what’s the barometer of a petty prayer? I think that as long as we ask that God’s will be done, we’re fine.
I don’t believe they are frivolous if our motives are right before God.
The Lord cares for all things in your life and no prayer request is too small or too frivolous for Him to help you.
I appreciate @Historyprof’s point. 50 years ago, my Philosophy of Religion professor used to tweak the fundies in the class by saying “I’ve been praying for YEARS for a new Dodge truck. Why would God NOT want me to have a new Dodge truck? What POSSIBLE reason could God have for not wanting me to have a new Dodge truck???” His point, of course, was basically the one @Historyprof is making, as well as the fact that these sorts of prayers are pretty much never answered. (“Oh, but they ARE answered!” the fundies would respond. “In his divine wisdom, God answered NO!”)
