Which are you most like spiritually?
You want to know God more, so start learning about God, read the bible more, read commentaries, biblical blogs, learn apologetics.
No one becomes an Olympic athlete by sitting down, they work incredible hard.
Suggestion start reading through the bible in a year.
That is two OT chapters, One NT chapter and a psalm read each day.
While doing this have a note book, record what you’ve read, what struck you in that reading and why. Record what you then prayed about.
Read Lee Strobles ‘the case for Christ.’ start following the coldcasechristianity blog, as well as answersingenesis and the wintery knight blog.
These will give you masses of food for thought and help you grow as a Christian.
Lastly get involved in your local church, not any church where one can’t talk with the pastor, a local church.

The first thing, simply since I truly do not know if you have or not, is accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Without that, it is impossible for you to receive and understand God’s Word.
“Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” Isaiah 6:10
This is why Jesus talked to His disciples in parables.
“He said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’” Luke 8:10
It is only through adoption into the family of God that you can become a child of God.
“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs–heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.” Romans 8:16-17
Then you will truly have eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to grow in wisdom and faith. God will reveal Himself in a way that is unique to you. There will be no doubt.

That’s a heart felt prayer and one I’m sure many have prayed at some time in their life. I know I have. When I was a new Christian I wondered why God didn’t zap me and make me perfect. That’s what I wanted. That instant zap of perfection. I’ve learned that He doesn’t work that way, but He does answer such prayers from the heart. In His own way and in His own timing. I think that’s because we’ve got some formidable walls and strongholds in our life and He works on them quietly and over time. He looks for our cooperation and readiness. He’s a gentle teacher as well as a Sovereign and Almighty God.
May you see God’s work in your life and His will done through you.
