God in the everyday, everywhere

God is not just found in the Bible. God is everywhere. If you look, you can find Him showing up through just about anything if you are paying attention.

When I was a child, I found God in a movie called, Pinochio and the Emperor of the Night. There was no mention of Jesus or angels or holiness. But there was this beautiful song that I watched over and over again. I tried to memorize it. I even wrote down the lyrics as best as I could. I was so enamored by it as a child that I inadvertently somewhat wore out the vcr (1980s) of the family friends we were visiting. At least it needed to be fixed shortly after.

The song is called, Love is the Light Inside Your Heart

Years later there was a country song by George Strait called, A Father’s Love. It also spoke to me, and was a bit more on point. The nature of God’s love.

Martina McBride’s Blessed. I love to meditate on this song. It lifts my spirit out of the muck to focus on the good that exists in this world. Loved ones, friends, and the time spent with them, the sun shining down on a Spring day. Blessings are boundless. Riches overflow.

Dolly Parton’s song, Coat of Many Colors really spoke to me where I was as a child. Her character and values inspire me. And a good number of her songs speak of God’s Love and Wisdom to me, if I am being honest. And her good works have changed this world for the better, though she would never tell you that herself. She doesn’t look for the accolades. She just does what she was taught. I truly love her though I may never know her in this life.

Unconditionally by Katy Perry. I’m With You, by Avril Lavign. People Like Us, by Kelly Clarkson. I could go on.

That voice that says, Don’t be afraid. You are loved. I have you and I will guide you through this storm. Or there is this something more to know. Go deeper.

Name something from your random life, anything, that helped to shine God into it. Something that God used to speak to you. Something not so obvious, but when you look back feels like maybe God was winking at you. Maybe something that whispered truth into your heart and life when you needed it most.

The bible makes it very clear that God is to be seen in creation and that those who search for him will find him.

Romans1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
And
Psalm 19: The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.

Yet how many people do you know who having seen the beauty of creation reject God?

One cannot rely on people working out from what they see that there is a God.

The question, Beloved, is where have YOU seen God in creation? Do you not have a personal testimony to share? What has God used in YOUR life to speak to YOU?

If God is in your life, you certainly have a story to share. A story will God provoked change in your life.
Where He challenged you, or guided you through a difficult time. Where have you met God in your life?
