Yesterday morning, my beloved sidekick, my bestest, goodest girl, died very suddenly. It seemed like a heart attack, though she’d just been to the vet 1 month ago, and was given a clean bill of health. No indication of anything to be concerned about. She wasn’t overweight, had a good diet, lots of exercise, so no reason for a heart attack..other than God willed it.
I love that dog. She came at a very tumultuous time in my life, and was at my side through a lot of storms, confusion, pain and fear. My husband loved that dog. My neighbors too, my friends whose dogs were her friends, everywhere she went she was making friends and just loving everyone.
While I’m holding her head in my lap, sobbing, petting her, kissing her..I asked “why?”
I’m making room. I’m doing something.
And everything stopped for a second and I said “you’re here..you’re really here” And in that second I could feel Him holding me and comforting me. In my pain I reached out to Him and He was, is, right there. Right here.
I reached for my phone and opened my Bible app to find verses of comfort and the verse of the day was this
Psalms 34:18 BSB
[18] The Lord is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit.
I don’t understand the “why” but I’m trusting in Him. And knowing He is near, all the time, brings me great comfort that I can share with those who are also hurting.
How amazing is our God? We serve such a good, loving, faithful God! He will never abandon us, He promises to comfort us, and lift us up no matter what we face.

This is my testimony about God showing up, yet again, in my day-to-day life, in my confusion and pain, and giving me great peace and comfort.
