God With Us. Then and Now

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). — Matthew 1:23

We hear “God with us” a lot around Christmas, but I wonder how often we really feel it. The idea that the Creator stepped into our world — not from a distance, but right into the mess — still stops me in my tracks.
What does “Immanuel” mean to you personally? How do you hold onto that truth when life doesn’t feel so holy or hopeful?
