Good Friday This Year is on the Actual Day Jesus Was Crucified

I have been feeling like this Lent season and upcoming Easter is especially significant and meaningful, and then I came across this article which notes that scholars and theologians believe the actual date that Jesus was crucified is Friday, April 3rd. This year (2026), Good Friday is on April 3rd!

Of course, this may simply be a coincidence and it’s bound to happen every so often since Easter isn’t on a fixed date, but I thought it was worth noting and lends extra significance to our observance of this sobering day this year. I always find anything that grounds the Christian faith and Jesus’ life in real life days, times, and occurrences is helpful in bringing my faith from my head to my heart.

Here’s the article: “When Did Jesus Die? Time, Day, and Year of His Crucifixion”
