Hello! So i am new here so i apologize for the weird question but, i am a Christian orca vtuber over on twitch. I am making my own 3D vtuber model from scratch and seeing that its orca themed i wanted to give my character a rockstar outfit. I soon will be learning electric guitar and one day play Christian rock songs on stream. Now I wanted to give my character some punk rock spike bracelets to fit the motif. However, i wanted to get some for myself irl just for fun and immerse myself more into the role. My question is, would these be wrong for a believer in Christ to wear? I ask this because these are often depicted as goth/rebel objects and I am merely getting them to fit with the rockstar look. I may be overthinking this or being silly about this but i just want to know for sure. I apologize for the weird question and for taking your time. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Given that a lot of heavy metal rock is anti christian I would ask why do you want to imitate there look?
Certainly if you are not a fluent musician I would suggest waiting before starting to get and wear bits of the rock style dress items.
Is it wrong to wear these items? In them selves no, but it is also what are you identifying with in wearing them.
Talieesea—
First off, not a weird question at all. In fact, it’s the kind of question the Church should be asking more often. Let’s not pretend God’s too holy to deal with leather, metal, or loud music. He’s holy enough to redeem all of it.
So you wanna wear spiked bracelets and rep Christian rock? Cool. But here’s the holy litmus test: Are you reflecting Christ or just rebelling with a Jesus bumper sticker slapped on top? Because the outside might say “bold,” but the inside better be saying “broken and surrendered.”
Romans 12:2 isn’t a fashion critique—it’s a spiritual MRI. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world…” means your heart better not be punk-for-punk’s-sake. But if you’re using every studded inch of that wrist to proclaim the gospel louder than the amps? Rock on.
Just don’t be more committed to the look than the Lord. He’s not impressed by your accessories—He’s after your obedience.
And let’s be honest: the Church could use a little more holy fire and a little less beige. Just make sure when you show up with fire, it’s from the altar, not your ego.
Stay salty. Stay lit.
I disagree with this statement. Many might be secular or non believers, but there are also Christian Heavy Metal artists. Many of those that sing anti Christian lyrics have experienced a negative behavior in church congregations they grew up in that does not embody the character of Christ-
Being judgemental, controlling, hateful, gossiping etc.
Many of those who take a stance against this unChristian church behavior have had direct experience. If they had experienced Christ like behavior, instead, the result might have been different.
I suggest you take a look at Dolly Parton, and the story of how she created her public persona. She is a devout woman of faith who purposefully dresses as the town tramp where she grew up because of how Christians treated that woman. She wears it to represent the complete loving acceptance Christ has for each and every one of us, no matter who we are. Not all people who call themselves Christian understand that love. They judge based on shallow appearances rather than what is inside that person. Christ sees the heart.
Hi,
There is a whole world of people who are Christian but non,-conventional.
I would direct you to Pastor Bob Beeman and Sanctuary International.
There is a whole community of Christian Metal that most people don’t know about.
I know Pastor Bob from when he was based in Southern California.
He is now in Tennessee.
He is a good guy, now 72, pastoring Sanctuary International, and still rockin for Christ.
Check him out and see what you think about him.
After all that, yes there is a place for you at the table of Chiat.
I am not sure what orca vtubers are.
So someone might be to help you with that.
Remember this, God received us sin and all.
We cannot cleanse ourselves.
It is God that has to cleanse us. (1 John 1:9)

Christian rock music is actually drawing in the younger followers and getting bigger fellowships. They have become big productions in those large worship halls.
I remember when tattoos were definitely frowned upon, and dress codes were very strict but that was my Southern Baptist, NC roots. Most of us won’t be here in 20 years-or will be too senile [insert Biden joke] & listening to to our 80’s oldies to care. Who knows what will become accepted. You might be able to reach more people and bear witness than most of us ever will. Btw what is a vtuber?
Thank you all for your replies! It gave me a little reassurance lol also a vtuber is a streamer that uses an anime character (either 2D or 3D) that moves to your expressions and movement like a puppet if you will.

There is a concept within Christianity that is often spoken by Jesus, and taught regularly through His apostles, but seems a bit under-appreciated, and conveniently marginalized. That is the Christian concept of “decreasing”. What I’m speaking of is sometimes called becoming less, growing into a little child, denying self, pursuing last place, or a trajectory of diminishing. It is a doctrine of humility, faith, and dependance. It is not difficult to notice how many times Jesus teaches this idea, but it is VERY difficult to actually put it into practice. Here are a few places we find this idea in The Bible:
Matthew 16:24-25
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
Matthew 20:16
“So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”
John 3:30
"He must increase, but I must decrease. "
Philippians 2:5-8
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. "
Romans 12:1-2
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
I could go on; there are many more examples of this consistent admonition. I urge you to consider meditating on these, and other, verses in The Bible that instruct us how we are to conduct ourselves. Then, when you feel you are fully educated, make your choices of dress, conduct, vocation, etc.
My 2 cents

p.s. Here is a poem, probably a hymn from an unknown author that I thought might emphasize my point. Hope you enjoy it:
WOULDST thou be chief? Then lowly serve.
Wouldst thou be up? Go down.
Yet, go as low as e’er you will,
The Highest hath gone lower still. To love’s most lowly offices,
Dost thou, in meekness, stoop?
The Christ, thy Master, thought it sweet
To wash His dear disciples’ feet.Wouldst thou be in the kingdom great?
Be here a little child.
Jesus was one, and never more
His childhood’s humbleness forebore.Wouldst thou command? Obedient be.
Jesus obeyed to death:
Even the death upon the cross,
With all its shame and bitter loss.E. B.
