Sometimes a verse sounds simple at one stage of life, but years later, after different experiences, it suddenly carries much deeper meaning.
Has that ever happened to you?

More times than I can count. Particularly after marriage, this one:
proverbs 21:19 “it’s better to live in the desert than a nagging wife who loves to argue”
@Inmate God has such a rich sense of humour! I find it all over the bible, but in Proverbs, He really displays His playfulness and good humour.
@ellenvera oh yes! Ok..so..I wanted to know about Job. So I took 10 off from life to read the book of Job, try some devotionals, do some research, check out some references..yet I didn’t understand what the book was talking about, except that Job’s friends were convinced that he had sinned and that God was punishing him for sinning. It took 4 full readings of that book to find the verse that changed everything for me, in a very personal way. Job 29:20 “My glory is fresh…” I stopped at “My glory”. It was like God had smacked me in the head with the OT. My pride. There it was. MY pride. The entire chapter is like a brag..Job bragging about how good his days were. Ok, maybe not bragging but definitely tooting his own horn. And when my eyes fell on those words, it was like a CLICK, a very loud click..and I realized that God had revealed something to me, something about me, and I was amazed. Just amazed. Still am.
Absolutely. I think the answer is short and sweet. When we are ready, God will show us. I think this is why you can read something over and over: God gives you eyes to see, and when you read it again, it hits you, and you finally understand. It wasn’t that you missed it; it was that you were not ready to see it.
The beauty of Scripture is that it is living and active, meeting us exactly where we are in our walk of faith. It is comforting to realize that our previous “blind spots” were not failures of intelligence or study, but rather a testament to God’s perfect timing in our spiritual maturity. He reveals truth in layers, ensuring that we are prepared to carry the weight and wisdom of His word when the moment of revelation arrives. This perspective turns the act of rereading from a repetitive chore into an expectant, lifelong conversation with the Creator.

Exactly. I have been reading and re-reading scripture for years, I read it cover to cover once a year for the lasy 6 to 8 years or so. Everytime I re-read it I come acros stuff and it’s like, I never read it before! And it’s important!
