Holidays are Hard

We have no family near us. Our circle of friends is very small. We thought we had plans for a ‘Friendsgiving’, but the few people that were going to come made alternative plans. We will now spend Thanksgiving by ourselves. We have so much to be thankful for. We just found out yesterday that the couple that we were going to spend Christmas with (and have the last 4 years), decided to forego celebrating together to head out of town a week early - for 2.5 months in the sun elsewhere. They notified us via text msg. We feel hurt, sad, disappointed. We have invited countless people to join us, even strangers in our community - we either receive no reply or polite declines. We’ve not been invited to join anyone. Not sure what the Lord is trying to teach us - but we are leaning into Him hard at this time. God knows our hearts. He knows our needs. Please pray for peace and joy in the midst of feeling very isolated, alone and forgotten. “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight” (Hebrews 4:13). We know and believe there isn’t a day or a tear that God doesn’t know about. He sees whatever we’re going through…and He knows. Lord, help us remember You not only know what is happening in our life, but You have a plan. Fill us with Your perfect peace and the ability to trust You as we wait.

Heavenly Father,

We lift up kbougie to You during this season of reflection and gratitude. Lord, You see the ache of loneliness they feel and their desire for connection and fellowship. Please wrap them in Your loving arms, reminding them that they are never alone and are deeply loved by You.

Grant them peace and joy, even in the midst of disappointment. Help them to find ways to celebrate Your blessings and to see Your light shining through their situation. Open doors for meaningful connections and community, and bless them with Your presence in this time of waiting.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”Psalm 145:18
