I’ve been asked a couple of times, “Out of all the religions, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and so on, why is Christianity the only true one?” It’s crazy cause as a Christian, that question pops into my head at times. What would be the best way to respond?
Although some, the Catholic Church, etc, have turned Christianity into a religion, it was never meant to be so. Religion is not going to save you. Being a good little “Insert religion here” is not going to save you. Sorry. It is just the simple truth. Religion is a man-made concept and most of the time has nothing to do with the true God and/or His plan of salvation.
Simply put, Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6. Jesus is the key to Salvation. It is simply, accepted by you or not, a fact that without Him, you can not enter into Heaven. It is simply a fact, again, accepted by you or not, that “neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
The early church used to call following Jesus’ teachings “The Way.” I know, I hear some Syfy fans out there now. But it is true. The early believers didn’t just attend a weekly service; they shared meals, pooled resources, and lived as an interconnected family (Acts 2:42–47).
The early believers met in homes, broke bread daily, and cared for one another’s material needs. It was an organic, dynamic community defined by mutual love and union with Christ, not a cold bureaucracy. Jesus routinely confronted the Pharisees for prioritizing man-made legalism over love, mercy, and a true heart for God.
“You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” And he said to them, 'You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God to establish your tradition! For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, 'If a man tells his father or his mother, ‘Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban’ (that is, given to God)-- then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do." Mark 7:8-13
The New Testament teaches the “priesthood of all believers” (1 Peter 2:9). Because of Christ’s sacrifice, believers no longer needed a human temple system or animal sacrifices to approach God; they had a direct, relational connection through the Holy Spirit.
If you want to keep it simple, use a passage they have most likely already heard.
" For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." John 3:16-18
Highlight this. “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” Simply put, we are all born into sin. We all sin and fall short. The end result is death. We have to do nothing. We are condemned already. But the Good news is you do not have to be. All you have to do is believe Jesus came to earth, died as a substitute for your sin, and has risen again. That is it. You are saved, and you are a new creation.
Buddha never claimed to be God.
Moses never claimed to be Jehovah.
Mohammed never claimed to be Allah.
Yet Jesus Christ claimed to be the true and living God.
Buddha simply said, |I am a teacher in search of the truth."
Jesus said, |I am the Truth.|
Confucius said, “I never claimed to be holy.”
Jesus said, “Who convicts me of sin?”
Mohammed said, “Unless God throws his cloak of mercy over me, I have no hope.”
Jesus said, “Unless you believe in me, you will die in your sins.”
Simply put, he who has the Son has life, and he who does not have the Son has not life. It is not now, nor has it ever been about “religion.” Jesus is simply reality.

My first response is, go back to your minister and ask why hasn’t he taught you the answer to this question.
2nd start reading web sites like coldcasechristianity, ansdwersingenesis and wintery knight.
All three give you the answer to this question.
My personal answer is similar to PeterC.
Look at what All religions teach there worshippers to do.
They all expect the worshipper to do enough works to please the object of worship.
That is except for Christianity, this teaches that one cannot please God and one has to accept from God the gift of forgiveness and a place with God.
This difference alone shows that Christianity is true. Who would invent the idea that we are hopeless unable to save oursellves?
