Perhaps what we all need more than anything else is for people to trust us.
How do we get people to trust us?

which people are you speaking about? Even God after delivering, feeding, and blessing Isreal could not gain their trust for 5 minutes. Jesus delt with it as well. Harvest those you can harvest and pray for the next worker to succeed where you did not.
You bring up an interesting point. Still, I think there is a simple answer to this.
God and Jesus were both trustworthy, so if people didn’t trust them, it was by choice.
Maybe, then, I should have asked this:
What makes a person trustworthy?
A better phrased question for an infinitely complex problem. who’s trust do you want? My cell mate has never had any cause in 4 months of livng with me to distrust me but he does simply because I am white.
Some people in my cell block distrust me because I have no tattoos and wont do drugs, some literally hate me because i carry a bible everywhere.
The real question is how do you spread love to those who dont want it.
I would say what makes a person is trustworthy is that they obey the Lord’s commandments.
In business it can take eight to ten years to build a reputation of reliability and trustworthiness. It can take six months to lose it.
Business is a different animal, perhaps. In life, when people see us break one of the Lord’s commandments, I think respect goes out the window.
Bob trust me
some people cannot be won over. for two years in satans kingdom i have shown love and respect for some vile people. my only goal and joy left in this world is to bring others to christ. a guard called me racist one day and destroyed my whole ministry. even when I allowed a black boy 1/2 my size to throw my bible and beat my face in people still call me racist. I have mastered the art of turning the other cheek and I assure u the devils children are not impressed. some people cannot be reached.
Trust, like love, often grows quietly over time, and sometimes not at all. But our call remains: to walk humbly, to speak truth in love, and to keep our conscience clear before God. As Paul said, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all” (Romans 12:18). Even when others refuse to see our heart, the Lord sees.
With some people, they will hate you BECAUSE you are trustworthy. How long are you in for?
Perhaps we are considered trustworthy until we demonstrate we are not.
I assume when you say “us” you are referring to followers of Christ and when you say “people” you are referring to people from all walks of life. I don’t believe God is requiring His sons & daughters to get people to trust us. However, we are required to love each other and love our neighbor. According to John 13:35, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” Only God can work on a person’s heart to trust. God does require His children to trust Him and lean not to our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).
If we obey the Lord’s commandments, there is no reason that I know of that people won’t trust us. If people don’t trust us, can we be happy?
Bob, we are not of this world. The more you follow the commandments, walk in the spirit, get closer to Jesus the more you will be treated like him. Even those closest had trust issues, Peter sank beneath the waves from a lack of faith which is trust in him.
As far as happiness when you walk with him in his purpose you can be happy anywhere. Even in prison
I agree what can make a person trustworthy is their obedience to God. John 14:21, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me…”.
I’m just pointing out that people aren’t going to trust us if we don’t obey the Lord’s commandment - or that people WILL trust us if we do obey the commandments.
Be honest. We can talk about this for days, weeks, months, or even years.
Why are there so many references from the Old Testament in the Gospels? To draw Jews into Christianity, Jews had a closed society, with these references being meaningless to Gentiles. This may be why Paul told Gentiles that they know nothing about the OT.
The Ten Commandments are found in the Old Testament. The two great commandments are found in the New Testament. I think these commandments point the way to heaven’s gate (Psalm 118 20).
Read Matthew Chapters 5-7, which even gives you a guide for prayer. The Lord’s is given to us as a structure for prayer, not something we say in the closet. We do not obey the Ten Commandments anymore; they are now a part of us. (John 3:1-21)
A correction to my previous post:
”This may be why Paul told Gentiles that they know nothing about the OT.”
”This may be why Paul told Gentiles that they would be better off knowing nothing about the OT.”
