How Do You Begin the New Year?

The older I get, the less interested I am in staying up late on New Year’s Eve and the more interested I am in going into the new year refreshed and ready for what God has planned for me. Also, I have young kids and am a morning person, so that could be part of it haha.

But I would love to know—what are some helpful traditions or practices you’ve found are conducive to beginning the new year on the right foot? Starting a new year sometimes feels so daunting and monumental, it’s hard not to feel paralyzed or like I need to have some big plans. What I’d really like to do is hear about some practical ways you usher in the new year, whether an activity you take part in, an intention you set, a way you make plans for the year ahead, etc.

I always keep my resolutions. It is the same every year. It’s not to make any resolutions. Kidding aside, yeah, I’m not a midnight celebrator anymore. Truthfully, it is just getting used to writing a different year on things.

My tradition is to spend some alone time with God. Thanking Him for the year past, with, of course, the big things at the top of the list. Thank Him for all things and ask Him to bless the new year. I also teach the Ten Commandments every year to start the year, remembering the Laws of God and the importance they still have in our lives and in our nation.

I think I’m going to ring in the “New Year” with the Greenlanders this year.
Then I can go to bed at 9:pm.

Even as a kid I never celebrated New Years except to wish others a happy new one. Still, I don’t care for it. It’s an excuse holiday. An excuse to stay up late, spend money, get drunk, etc. Let’s face it… most people don’t need an excuse for any of that these days. To me, it’s just another day. If there as a ‘Bah-Humbug’ for new years, I’d say it.

I’m a 59 year old man that one year ago I was homeless for somehow God always seems to provide and I found a nice place to stay, I continue to live on but know this each day is a blessing when you’re in Jesus is your lord I wake up and I think him for another day but he has made this day and I shall rejuice and be glad in it forsurely goodness and mercy and love and peace and prosperity shall follow my family and I all the days of my life, the principle of faith is action,_faith with out works is dead, faith is a substance of things hope for yet not seen But the evidence of things that come to pass as we speak those things there’s no they’re not as though they are faith is believing what we can hope for as we speak out of abundance of our heart the mouth speaks, Praise Jesus look over the mountains and all the trials and tribulations, its like the footprints in the Sand, all awhile he( Jesus )was carrying You all along. Believe, Yee of little Faith. I’d like to stand in agreement to Matthews 18 19 where to agree upon Earth as touching any one thing they shall ask and it shall be done by our father in heaven ,them that’s an agreement we stand on together in Jesus holy name I pray amen my brothers and sisters in Christ, Rejoice and praise his mighty name. Your brother Neil in Christ.peace & love.

The first time I read this, my eyes caught it, but my mind did not. I know what you were meaning to type, but still…

Got to love typos. (I’m glad God understood I needed the laugh this morning).

I don’t have any practical ways on how to usher in the new year. I spend it sleeping.
