I’ve been praying about one thing for a long time now and honestly some days I wonder if I’m just talking to the ceiling. What keeps me going is a verse I keep coming back to: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9). It doesn’t fix the ache, but it reminds me that waiting isn’t the same as being ignored. What has helped you hold on when the answer just wouldn’t come?
What helps me is to stop holding out for the specific answer I designed, and begin looking for the better answer I never expected.

It depends on what you are praying for.
If you want the Lord to do something for you, maybe it’s not time yet, or maybe it isn’t something he is going to do for you.
If you want a question answered, maybe he has to teach you several things before you’ll understand the answer. Remember: A second grader isn’t ready to understand the answer to an eighth grade question.
That second grader line is a good way to put it. Looking back, a few of my prayers were not ignored, I just was not ready for the answer yet. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Still hard when it drags on, though.
That is a good way to put it, KPuff. I think a lot of my frustration came from praying for my version of the answer. Isaiah 55:9 says, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Takes some of the pressure off when I remember that.
Trust God’s timing it isn’t ours. A day is a thousand years and a thousand y years a day. I too have been praying for years and I believe it will happen! I have faith. Remember ask and you will receive if it be God’s will. Keep praying ![]()
