How Do You Stay Spiritually Steady in Seasons of Waiting?

As Christians reflect on what it means to endure with hope, we invite your voice in Crosswalk Forums.

Waiting is hard. Especially when the answers are delayed, the healing is slow, or the breakthrough seems far off. It’s easy to drift or get discouraged. But Scripture doesn’t just call us to wait—it calls us to stand firm while we wait.

James 5:8 says, “You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” That word “establish” means to strengthen, to anchor, to set something in place so it won’t move. We’re not supposed to sit back passively—we’re called to fix our hope, stabilize our faith, and keep walking even when we don’t see progress.

Endurance doesn’t mean pretending everything’s okay. It means staying tethered to Christ even when it isn’t. So how do you do that? What helps you establish your heart when life feels uncertain?

What’s been the hardest season of waiting in your life?
How did God meet you there—or how are you still holding on?

“Hope steadies the heart. You weren’t made to drift—you were made to endure.”

Hi,

Is waiting confined to just sitting around and doing nothing?
Or, while you are waiting, could you be using the time to help someone else?
Use the time to be God’s blessing to another.
Find a cause and get involved.
Don’t be the dude or dudette who buries their talent in the ground.
Make use of it.
Let God work through you and feel the joy that passes all understanding.

Blessings

Greetings in the Lord, Fritzpw,

How do I stay spiritually steady in seasons of waiting? The Holy Spirit gave me revelations on being and giving Thanks unto the Lord. Praising the Father in heaven when He answers my prayers and when He’s working in my heart to do of His good pleasures. Holy Spirit gave me revelations of Cleaving unto the Lord by praying, meditating on His promises, getting renewed in my thinking daily and letting the light of the Word shine through my thoughts. He has taught me to RECEIVE the mercy of God that’s new every morning, and to stay wrapped up in HIS unconditional love, HIS peace that pass all human understanding, and to totally put ALL my TRUST in HIM everyday, everyway, and in everything. In other words I don’t lean on flesh, my own carnal thinking, but by FAITH I lean on the Holy Spirit with all of my heart and use the common sense that He gives to me in Jesus name.

I don’t take God for granted in every good thing that HE does for me, I give HIM thanks, and I don’t touch HIS Glory. When HE gives me HIS favor, I give HIM thanks, when HE moves the mountains,I give HIM Thanks. When HE blesses me to be a blessing to other people, I give HIM thanks. I don’t leave HIM out of anything and in everything I do acknowledge HIM so that HE can lead the way. With the Holy Spirit’s divine help He gives me revelation to surrender self to HIM in Jesus name. He helps me to practice the Word with HIM in everyday living and in every season. I know that it’s ONLY because of Jesus that I am and apart from HIM it’s nothing.

Mark 11:22

The Holy Spirit has taught me to really live in the Secret Place with God, by keeping on the Whole Armor of God and the Garment of Praise even when things don’t go my way, or turn out like I thought they would. Look, I’m still BELIEVING the Father in heaven to do the impossible for me. I’m believing HIM for HIS Best in everything because Jesus literally paid the price for me to have HIS abundance in Spirit,in Truth, and in the Natural too.

Blessings to you and your household in Jesus name,so be it(amen_
