I’ve been noticing more talk about AI “friends,” “therapists,” and even “companions”, especially among younger people. Some say it helps with loneliness; others think it’s spiritually dangerous.
I’m curious how people here view this from a Christian perspective.
Is it just another tool, like social media?
Or do you think it could impact how people relate to God and real community?
Not looking for debates, just genuinely wondering how believers are thinking about this new cultural shift.
I absolutely feel that this is dangerous. I cannot say for certain; however, I would be willing to wager that most of these people who are using AL for companionship do not have God in their lives. When you remove God, you have to fill the void with something. Even God said back to the first man;
“And the LORD God said, it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Genesis 2:18
We as humans need someone in our lives. God wants it to be Him, and who He sends us; however, the void will be filled.
Look at schools, where crewing gum and talking used to be violations, and now rape and murder. Look at America today. When you remove God, something always takes His place, and if it is not God, then it is evil. Period.
I personally see AI as a great tool. It can help one research, clarify what they try to write, and can be an excellent source of knowledge. However, as with any tool, it can also be used for evil and division.
