Election season produces a lot of tense moments between political parties and the people in our everyday lives. How can we pray in a way that honors God concerning our nation and the upcoming election season? This article gives us a fantastic view of what that looks like on paper and to live out.
How will you be praying for peace this election season?
I am praying that violence and attempts to overthrow the government will not happen
That no police officers will be injured or so traumatized that they take their own lives
That we will have peace as a nation within so we can stand together against the enemies of our nation.
I also pray for politicians who will have the bravery to serve THE NATION, not only their party and supporters- and will not give in to intimidation from those intent on destroying democracy
I am also praying for the backbones of our country- the moderates in both parties who have been pushed aside in favor of the extremists.

I’m praying that God’s hand will move on the voters, and those running for office. I’m also praying that revival will break out. I don’t mean those old tent revivals; we’ve had enough of those. I mean a revival like the ones you find in the book of Acts. That’s what we need.

What’s wrong with tent revivals? I have attended many, and it is fascinating. Also, my Master’s thesis was on camp meetings, which are extended tent revivals in some ways. They are an important part of American style Christianity.

Tent revivals in themselves are not bad, they’re just not what we need right now. What we need is national revival; a national revival that extends all the way up to the highest branches of the government.

That God’s truth and peace will prevail. That lies and intimidation are thwarted.
That the elections will be fair and just, and that that will be acknowledged by both sides. That God will frustrate the plans of evil.
That God will determine the steps of the officials, candidates, and voters (Proverbs 16:9).
That people will turn from their own selfish desires and seek what is best for the country - both in the election and in other areas of life.

Campmeetings and tent revivals can go on for weeks. People take their vacation and camp out. Communal meals may be shared, and the speakers and musicians will vary.
Church revival: Some preacher comes to your church three or four nights.
The kind of revival I’m talking about happens ‘spontaneously.’ At least from a human perspective. The kind of revival I’m talking about is found in the book of Acts. This kind of revival is always preceded by prayer and is unplanned. It’s a working of the Holy Spirit, not some Church Committee. In fact, this kind of revival is impossible to generate; God must move for it to happen. I know I sound redundant; I’m just trying to make sure I’m not misunderstood.
