Hymns or Christian songs that are theologically questionable?

An old gospel song comes to mind”The Great Speckled Bird” which takes an obscure verse and try’s to make an unclear point.

1.What a beautiful thought I am thinking
Concerning a great speckled bird
Remember her name is recorded
On the pages of God’s Holy Word.

  1. All the other birds are flocking 'round her
And she is despised by the squad
But the great speckled bird in the Bible
Is one with the great church of God.

  2. All the other churches are against her
They envy her glory and fame
They hate her because she is chosen
And has not denied Jesus’ name.

  3. Desiring to lower her standard
They watch every move that she makes
They long to find fault with her teachings
But really they find no mistake.

  4. She is spreading her wings for a journey
She’s going to leave by and by
When the trumpet shall sound in the morning
She’ll rise and go up in the sky.

  5. In the presence of all her despisers
With a song never uttered before
She will rise and be gone in a moment
Till the great tribulation is o’er.

  6. I am glad I have learned of her meekness
I am proud that my name is on her book
For I want to be one never fearing
The face of my Savior to look.

  7. When He cometh descending from heaven
On the cloud that He writes in His Word
I’ll be joyfully carried to meet Him
On the wings of that great speckled bird.

Interesting article- Although the rip at Kenswick theology dumps most of the Methodist, Wesleyan, and Nazarene hymnals altogether

‘Greater’ MercyMe.

Bridge:
There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
'Cause the cross already won the war

What happened to ‘working out your salvation with fear and trembling?’
Or ‘the righteous man falls 7 times, and the Lord raises him up?’

How do we know Jesus was born on a ‘Silent Night’?

How He Loves. :face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting:

But this is my reaction to most of the repetitive choruses that drone on and on.

I know right! God’s love is like a sloppy wet kiss? I mean, come on, what is He, a dog?

Too many songs border on sexualizing Jesus. Much of it born out of the “Jesus is my boyfriend “ trend from 20 years ago. :rage:

  :face_vomiting: :face_vomiting: how do people come up with this stuff?
