I need other Christians in my life especially at work. I’ve been praying that God leads me to a small group also. I still battle drinking but it has gotten better. My son does not talk to me because of my drinking. My finances are a wreck too. Pleases help
Father in the name of Jesus help! Im lowering my fellow believer down through the roof to get to you. Help them to take one day at a time. Amen
Hi, friend!
I’m proud of you! You just did something courageous and admitted to yourself and others that you are battling with alcohol. Did you realize that you accomplished the hardest step toward recovery?! Cause you totally just did. And that deserves a high five.
Addiction that takes on any form is a painful thing for everyone it contacts. Whenever we see people we love and care about hurting themselves in some way or another, it hurts us too. I imagine that isn’t any different for your son. He loves you. So it hurts.
But that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the line! You’ve got the spark of divinity in you, my dear. Can you even fathom what that means you are capable of?! It definitely means you are capable of being sober and enjoying it, spending great time with your son, and not feeling lonely anymore – with people around or by yourself.
Ask yourself… What gives me strength? What’s always with me no matter what I say or do? Where should I look for guidance and courage? What can make me feel strong and confident enough to decide not to drink today?
If you do, I bet you’ll find your answer!!! And I bet you’ll feel better, too.
And maybe this may help: Fifteen minutes. Stay sober for fifteen minutes. That’s TOTALLY achievable, right? You got 15 minutes, no problem! But then, when that fifteen minutes is up, stay sober for fifteen minutes. It’s just another fifteen little minutes, you know? Before you know it, you’ll be hours and hours sober. Then days. Then weeks. And there will be a time, I promise, that you will go days and weeks and even months without even thinking about drinking because alcohol will no longer be clouding your mind.
Satan and his minions look for any and every opportunity to get even the tiniest foot in the door, metaphorically. Any weak point, they will find and use to their advantage. Alcohol, drugs, gambling and other addictions are their go-to weapon of choice. If we fortify ourselves with our relationship with God, we make it much harder for them to gain entrance.
I have faith in you, dear friend. Like I said, you’ve done the hardest part. And I am proud of you. But better than that, taking the necessary steps to strengthen yourself and your closeness with God makes God proud of you. And that is the only place you’ll find real significance.
Love & Respect,
Faeryn
