Lord, as I care and watch over my 96+ mother and do everything I can to keep her in her own home, I need strength and help daily. Her memory is so very short and I need to be more understanding with her. I need help with her during the day so it’s not just me checking on her. Lord this is a chapter in my life that is difficult for me, you have brought me through so much with dad when he passed and I know you will either mom. Give me the strength I need and wisdom. I fail you Lord so much yet your presence is always with me. Help me Father to be more sensitive to moms needs and give me the strength to hold on. Mom has good days and bad days, today Lord she needs her hair washed and set. Please give her a good day today so I can take her to have this done. Thank you Father for always being by my side and drying my tears. Lord I love you and need you today, and all of my tomorrow’s. Amen
your prayed really touched my heart, i know times may be challenging from time to time but look at it this way, the Lord is using you to bless your mom and comfort her as she winds this mortal test we all go through. stay strong but keep your heart soft
Father, I lift up my sister in Christ who is pouring out her heart and strength to care for her mother. You see every sacrifice she makes, every tear she sheds in private, every moment she feels stretched thin. You know the weight she carries, and You walk with her through it all.
Lord, renew her strength today.
Strengthen her hands when she feels weary.
Steady her mind when decisions feel overwhelming.
Guard her heart with Your peace when emotions run deep.
Fill her with patience, compassion, and tenderness; especially on the days that require more from her than she feels she can give. Remind her that her love is a reflection of Your love, and that her service is holy work.
Bless her, Lord.
Renew her.
Uphold her.
Carry her.
And let her feel deeply, tangibly, that she is not walking this path by herself.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You are being a good and holy daughter Heather23. There is a right way and a wrong way to do family. There is the world’s family plan, and then there’s God’s family plan. Let’s start by saying, family? It is pretty important to God. We can trace this back to Genesis, at the very creation of man.
“And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.” Genesis 2:18
Then in Genesis 2:24
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
God created man, then woman, and then marriage, as outlined from the very beginning. Setting aside the issue of the fall of man for a moment, we can see that the family holds great significance in the eyes of God. A family that lives righteously is centered around God. This emphasis on family is so important that it is reflected in the Fifth Commandment, which is the first commandment with a promise attached to it.
God’s family plan is simple. Grow up. Find a like-minded spouse, especially when it comes to God and His Word, and marry. Then, have children. Teach those children the ways of God and the difference, regardless of what the world says, between sin and good. When you get old, it is their responsibility to care for you.
I will keep you and your mom in prayer. Life is not always easy, but it is a gift from God.
Peter
You are a blessing to your mother. There are services out there available to help care takers like yourself. You don’t have to take care of her all alone. Call your county or something like visiting angels. Caretakers get burned out and need help. It is important to care for yourself also. You are doing one of the toughest jobs around but also very rewarding. To care for one who is unable to care for themselves is a beautiful gift. God bless you and strengthen you. You are amazing.
Thank you so much for the advice and kind words! I’m new here and still learning how to balance everything, so this really helps
prayers all goes well!!![]()

Father God, I lift up Heather23 to you now. She has such a big responsibility, and such a big heart, Lord. I feel her pain acutely as I took care of my Joe for those years and You sustained me through it. Please Lord, hear her prayers for strength, wisdom and patience towards her mother. It is a lonely path that caregivers often walk, You know the challenges and the struggles that she faces daily. Help her to know that others understand those struggles and stand with her in prayerful support. I ask these things in the precious name of Jesus my Savior, Amen.
