ICE Is Sent To Arizona, Protests Starting Before They Even Show Up

I am an Arizonan. As we all know, Arizona is a very populated state when it comes to immigrant families — and most of all, Native American and indigenous people. Like the Purple Heart community in Mesa, to the amount of Native American gift shops selling turquoise jewelry for valuable prices, Spear heads, and generally things considered a part of indigenous history there. but I’m worried that ICE will categorize the LITERAL OWNERS of America, as illegal. nobody is illegal on stolen land. I am a Yaqui Native American – my people settled on the Sonoran Mexico-America border. and we are descendants of the Toltec tribe, an ancient Mexico tribe that had the strongest military there was. the Aztecs basically just took that title when the Toltecs died off.

Rambling aside – ICE has already taken a Navajo man into custody. Protests have started in 5 places in Arizona already including mesa, phoenix, Scottsdale, and even in places like schools or workplaces. my school is panning a walkout for a peaceful, anti-ice march of 2.5 miles. and no, the administration did not start it. but they let out a notice that it’s a students right to express their first amendment and there will be no consequence other than an unexcused absence. and i WILL be going to it.

I’d like your opinions: should ICE deport without reasoning – whether that be without photo evidence that you are the person they’re looking for, whether that they have a warrant, whether you are an immigrant or a descendant of an immigrant – because my great grandparents we’re immigrants from Poland to the cape cod after sneaking on a ship. they were escaping due to bombing of polish soldiers by russia.

TRIGGER WARNING: This reply mentions school shootings and politcally sensitive subjects…

ICE is an agency built on hypocrisy. Does a squatter get to kick you out of your own house? Nuf said. But just to be sure, don’t go anywhere without proper identification. All of it. Birth certificate, social security card, school, state i.d. cards, library cards, letters of certification, baptismal records, what ever and as much as you can carry.

Live stream any encounters with police or agents by pocket filming (not in-their-face-filming as this enrages them) because you will need it at your defense trial. Don’t travel alone or in too large of a group. And be polite, respectful and cooperate with them if stopped. Even if you don’t mean it. (They have power over your freedom and the protection of the Government.)

As for protesting, the problem I see with it is that people tend to do it only once the grievance happens to them, or is likely to. What people don’t get is that everything IS eventual. Look at the problems of school shootings, no one pushes back until it is their school, their kids, their town.

Example: When the shooting in Columbine, CO happened on April 20, 1999, I was in my HS, in Nashville, Tn, having lunch. Word of mouth by students who got texts (cell phones wern’t as prolific then) was our only heads up. They didn’t lock us down, didn’t make an announcement, we didn’t get councilling, nothing. Two weeks later, we suddenly had metal detectors at the front entrance and they numberd our class doors. That was it.

Now 25+ years later, after we finally had our own school mass shooting they now have clear backpacks, siminars, active shooter drills, deadbolts on class rooms, tandom & random police patrols, etc. They are even trying to give the teachers guns.

Anyways, don’t wait to close the door until after the horse gets out. It will be too late by then.

In additon to, or even better (if safety is a concern), instead of protesting, perhaps people should start repatedly calling/writing/e-mailng/visiting their news agencies, town leaders and politicians (congressional members, senators, mayors, governers, justices, etc.) non-stop. In perpetuity. At ALL hours of the day.

Better yet, instead of protests, since they aren’t safe anymore, have pray-ins at churches. Be sure to lock all of the doors and stay away from any and all windows if you do. Because guess what? That’s not safe either.

No, the only thing that will help is by being the change. You are the bright new generation. Get in the Word, and teach it to others. Lead by example. Matthew 5:16 says “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” And Matthew 7:20 says “By their fruit you will recognize them.” Know it is wrong in your heart and pray over it often. Let God be the answer.

Remember always young brother, God loves you!!!

Noted, thanks brother @Joe-Also

In an age where nothing posted can be trusted as truth, even on a Christian site, do you mind if I ask why your profile says you can speak Russian?

I think the issue is not a posters trustabillity, but the readers understanding. I speak a little Latin… It does not make me a Latino. Comprende, mi hermano?

I asked him and would like a response from him. Unless you and he are the same person. Then I will accept that as the answer.

And my question matters because if the person is asking a politically charged question under the guise of being someone he is not, then the question must be asked, “Why?”

I didn’t say your question didn’t matter. You want to wait on a response, suit your self. Just don’t be suprised or upset if he were to ignore you for calling him untrustworthy. lol

Personally: I answer, or I do not. Dosen’t matter to me if a person is asking a politically charged question under the guise of being someone he is not. It’s still a valid question, and answers are free. It’s not like by answering it I’m endorsing a doctrine or voting for someone. I was asked my opinon. I gave it. If I don’t feel I have anything to add, I keep my opinon to myself. Then again, I’m just simple country folk.

If you don’t mind my asking, why is it a touchy subject with you? I would like to better understand your reasoning.

i am learning the language, and speaking/texting in russian helps my fluency ^^ my moms side of the family is a variety of slavic-euorpean heratige, meanwhile my dads side is native american/latino.

hey, no fighting. i was busy in school.

i dont have much russian DNA, but its a culture i am interested in and just so happen to be part of.

my mom doesnt allow me to go to church. she belives worshipping a god and not yourself is schizophrenic behavior, and she’ll put me back in the padded rooms and straightjackets if im caught with religious stuff

LOL! You’re funny. So what did you learn in school today then? Don’t be stingey, share.

Very commendable. Funny note: I once looked up the orignis of my mothers maiden name “Hay” and found out I’m a decendant of Sir Gilbert the Hay. Was tickled pink being able to trace the family roots to a knight… then I found out he was knighted not for bravery in combat or anything of the like, but for poetry.

well, i’m special needs so i’m learning 3rd grade - 6th grade stuff in highschool. so dont judge.

in math, i figured out how to calculate percentage via fractions (example: 1/4 = 25%, 9/10 = 90%, etc)

in ELA we have new vocabulary words: enn/ann – such as annual and centennial

in social studies, we’re learning about ancient rome. i learned about Julius and Augustus and how theyre the reason why we have the months august and july.

in earth science, we’re learning about rock layers and how to relatively date them (this is my general education class!)

in art, we’re sculpting. i alr finished, though

I’ve been judged most of my life, so I would never judge others.
And you’re doing a sight better than I, as when it comes to me and calculating numbers… let’s just say I’m numerically dyslexic.
