I have 2 daughters, ages 19 and 21. They’re both in college; we dropped them off at their respective schools over the last 2 weekends. They’re in their sophomore and senior years, respectively.
OK, so this isn’t the first year that they were both gone, and I was pretty OK last year. However, for some reason, I’m having a harder time this year. Right now I’m missing them both so badly it’s ridiculous. However, I promised myself that I wasn’t going to be “that parent” and call & check on them every day. As parents, it’s important that we give them roots and wings. My husband & I have given them nice, deep roots, both biologically (we have an incredible relationship with our girls) and within a wonderful church family. Now it’s time for them to try their wings.
I apologize for this rant. I’m not asking for advice or anything…I just needed to get this off my chest.

Hang in there mama.
They’ll be home for holiday before you know it.

I don’t have any advice for you. I do understand you missing your girls. We have one son and his family that lives a few hours away. My husband is a truck driver so he’s not home for us to go visit as often às I like. The separation sadness always happens after we visit and I have to come home. I am one of those mommas who will check on them probably daily. Even if it’s just a text. I’m very thankful for Facetime.
Count the days down until Thanksgiving or whenever they’re home again. That’s what my friend does and we countdown with her. It gets exciting as the time passes and that exciting reunion day draws close❤️

My response was flagged and I do not understand why,Fritz.
Says it was off topic. It was not. I was relating to the op and how she misses her girls.
That makes two of us which is why I approved it… still think we have to come up with a name for system so we can rant and rave against it when it gets things wrong. Stupid electrobeastie

How about Sully? Sully Salem? (I can go off-topic; it’s my topic.)
Or what about Darnsy S. Tem?
