Hi everyone! I just realized that I never introduced myself (I’ve been participating on the Crosswalk forum for about a week or so). My name is Tara and I work as a caregiver for a home health agency. My husband James and I are Christians who spend a lot of time in prayer, and we have an always-hungry but adorable cat named Joey (as seen in my profile picture).
I joined Crosswalk looking for fellowship with people who truly love Jesus and want to follow Him. Unfortunately, my experiences at churches and Christian groups (in person and online) overall have not been the greatest. There are, however, always a few kind-hearted individuals, which I greatly appreciate!
Too often, however, I find that those who identify themselves (“Christ”-ians) with the most loving, holy, kind-hearted person (Jesus) ever to walk the earth, bear no resemblance to Him at all. Even when biblical truth is intellectually believed and shared, it is shared with an ugly spirit that cares nothing for its neighbor. Jesus reserved his harshest rebukes for these religious folks, or Pharisees, while showing great compassion and mercy to the poor in spirit, the downtrodden. This also brings to my mind the famous words from 1 Corinthians 13: “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” (I do want to add that I am not referring to any specific people on Crosswalk in what I am talking about here- just professed Christians in general)
I would appreciate prayers for me to find loving, biblical Christian community, especially where I live. Please feel free to respond to this with kind, welcoming, encouraging words or prayers. Thanks, and God bless!
