Introduction and Prayer Request for Christian Fellowship

Hi everyone! I just realized that I never introduced myself (I’ve been participating on the Crosswalk forum for about a week or so). My name is Tara and I work as a caregiver for a home health agency. My husband James and I are Christians who spend a lot of time in prayer, and we have an always-hungry but adorable cat named Joey :pink_heart: (as seen in my profile picture).

I joined Crosswalk looking for fellowship with people who truly love Jesus and want to follow Him. Unfortunately, my experiences at churches and Christian groups (in person and online) overall have not been the greatest. There are, however, always a few kind-hearted individuals, which I greatly appreciate!

Too often, however, I find that those who identify themselves (“Christ”-ians) with the most loving, holy, kind-hearted person (Jesus) ever to walk the earth, bear no resemblance to Him at all. Even when biblical truth is intellectually believed and shared, it is shared with an ugly spirit that cares nothing for its neighbor. Jesus reserved his harshest rebukes for these religious folks, or Pharisees, while showing great compassion and mercy to the poor in spirit, the downtrodden. This also brings to my mind the famous words from 1 Corinthians 13: “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” (I do want to add that I am not referring to any specific people on Crosswalk in what I am talking about here- just professed Christians in general)

I would appreciate prayers for me to find loving, biblical Christian community, especially where I live. Please feel free to respond to this with kind, welcoming, encouraging words or prayers. Thanks, and God bless! :latin_cross::folded_hands:t3:

I agree completely about the phony Christians
Last fall my mother threw me out with no money. I was almost seventy with no money and living in a tent
I knew three so called Christians that had Winnebago’s they were no using but refused to allow me to stay there.
I knew three so called Christians that went on three month trips and refused to allow me to stay in their homes
I knew many so called Christians that were empty nesters living in four bedroom homes that refused to help me
I knew many so called Christians that are wealthy but refused to give me any money for food
These hypocrites all knew me. They knew I do not drink, smoke or use drugs. They knew I am quiet, a loner and clean. They all knew my situation and condemned my mom for it
On the flip side of the coin there were many atheists that did not know me that gave me money and home cooked meals.
So, I lived the Good Samaritan experience.
I am a strong Christian and Christ cared for me through the Samaritans.

As far as I am concerned you have found a Christian community here.
Being a Christian live in care giver I am sure we can share many stories
I have a big suckie Tabby who is spoiled rotten
Please Jehovah Jireh ( God will supply ) bless this beautiful lady and her soul mate with a community of loving Christian brothers and sisters.
I humbly request this in the name of my Big Brother, Jesus Christ. Amen
I write Christian articles you may enjoy at

Thank you so much for your wonderful prayer for me! :folded_hands:t3: My husband James goes to church, but I have difficulty going to any church (or even a group Bible study) now because of so many times of feeling judged and unwelcome by people there. I am trying to take small steps to get back to Christian fellowship, though. I appreciate this forum (Crosswalk), though sometimes even this feels like I’m just putting myself out on display for people to judge (the way I often feel at church). So it’s really encouraging to get kind responses like yours- thank you again!

I had not planned to be a caregiver as my “career,” but when I got my first job with a home health agency in 2010 I realized this job is just the perfect fit for me. My caregiving experience has probably been much easier than yours- at least I get paid! I am sorry again that you had to give up your teaching career to care for your Mom, and it doesn’t sound like it’s appreciated. I am also sorry you have had a lot negative experiences with Christians (in name, at least) who could have helped you but didn’t.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences on your articles (I read several of them)! This is just a friendly question out of curiosity- I noticed that you often refer to God as Jehovah in your articles. Are you a Jehovah’s Witness, or are you just using that name for God out of personal preference? If you don’t feel comfortable answering this (or if you would rather share by direct message rather than publicly) that’s okay.

Again, I appreciate your kindness to me on this forum. God bless you, sir! :latin_cross::folded_hands:t3:

Why are folks judgmental towards you

May you always find a welcome home in Jehovah Abba (God our Father 1 John 3:1 ) loving home

This list is great!!! Thank you! I hope I didn’t offend you by asking if you were a Jehovah’s Witness. I thought it might just be a personal preference for the name, but just in case you were I wanted to know so I could be praying for you about that. Also I would have felt a responsibility to share with you (through direct messaging probably) the truth about Jesus, with gentleness and respect. I am glad to hear you are not a JW though, and that were not brainwashed into it! :folded_hands:t3:

It helps to know there are others out there who don’t fit in at church, so thank you for sharing that! I think the reasons for people being judgmental may vary:

  • One could be prejudice, as I talk about in the post called “Do you know anyone who has moved to a conservative state?” Though I should mention that not every person is like that where I live.
  • A second could be that people are just prone to judging because of our sinful nature. Most people view others with worldly eyes rather than spiritual eyes, or the eyes of Jesus.
  • Another factor in this, from my end, could be that I am just a sensitive soul. I notice people’s expressions, tone and body language a lot more easily than many other kinds of personalities. God has also given me a lot of compassion for others, which I guess is why caregiving is the perfect job for me! But it also means I am prone to getting hurt more easily. I notice people’s responses to me acutely and find it difficult to not always take their words to heart. This probably doesn’t help when it comes to living in a world with fallen human beings (myself included!).

Thank you also for that wonderful blessing (Jehovah Abba) at the end! We are all so blessed to have such a perfectly loving God that does not judge us at all in the way the world does! :latin_cross::pink_heart::folded_hands:t3:

Ha, ha, ha.

Precious sister, it sounds like you and I are twins

It sounds as if you are a Chosen One as well.
If you watch and listen to his series on Chosen Ones it will help you STOP WORRYING!! Why Chosen Ones Cannot be Around A Lot of People | C.S. Lewis
It shocked me to discover I was one
As well if you look on the side bar you will see sermons by others like Biily Graham that talk about chosen ones.

Please Jehovah Bore (Isaiah 40:28 The LORD Creator ) bless this wonderful child of Yours to discover through this series of who she is, why she is the way she is and bless her that is encouraging to her

Hi Tara,
I hear you.
I feel surrounded by unGodly”Christians”
I am praying for my sense of abandonment to end.
I pray we both find love, acceptance, connection and peace in solid children of God who follow Christ.
