Is Ed Sheeran Christian?

Did you guys read about the Macklemore and Ed Sheeran concert thing? I don’t want political opinions whatsoever. What I am curious about is whether you think it is Christian of Ed Sheeran to keep his personal, political, and religious beliefs to himself. He was quoted saying, “I am not complicit. I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them, and it doesn’t mean I don’t care.”

Personally, I think it’s a smart “business move” to keep it all to himself.

I agree that it’s a smart business move and also something more celebrities should do—keep their political opinions to themselves. I’d much rather they focused on their art and entertainment and quietly donate to and support whatever organizations they want.

Also, I don’t know a ton about Ed Sheeran, but I love how he talks about being a girl dad. Based on that, he seems to be a really sweet person.

My old boss used to say, “It is better to sit in silence, and be thought of as a fool, than to stand and speak, and remove all doubt.” I love Sean Connery and his work. I love Donald Sutherland and his work. Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Johnny Depp. etc. They have a job to do: entertain us.

Does Lefty from Donnie Brasco care what Trump does? Who cares? Does the devil in The Devil’s Advocate care about “right to life”? Do I really care if Babbra Striestain writes an incoherent letter to the President? No. Just go pretend, sing, make that money, and entertain us.

What, because you are famous or have some money, should people care what you think? Are your opinions more important than Billybob in the swamps of Louisiana? Of course not. Then again, you have the whole we have the Truth according to God, not according to Jane Fonda. Just my opinion.

Be blessed.

Never heard of him before, I had to look up who he is.

From what I see, he is a songwriter and singer…of carnal music and songs. If we go strictly by Scripture, we would have to say that he is not a Christian. A Christian should not be singing songs about worldly things, but rather, about heavenly things. Period.

Scripture is black and white doctrinally speaking, and if you are sowing to the flesh, and never the spirit (in Biblical terms and definitions), then this is not what a Christ-follower does…unless, of course, he is a so-called progressive liberal ‘christian,’ which means he is not a Christian at all, again.

Blessings

Well stated PeterC

On the other hand, please do thank God publically for talent at the reward ceremony but don’t mention your POV on politics — that’s what I wish to say to celebrities and musicians, sometimes one in the same.
