That depends…For a man orr a woman? What do you mean by “girlfriend?” Do you mean a lover? With sex outside of marriage?
No it is not a sin to have a close friend of the opposite sex.
As a general rule what ever brakes the 10 commandments is a sin.
So one can have such a close friend, but it becomes a sin when one starts having sex with them.
