I would rather not eat meat, because I don’t like the idea of killing animals, but I tried a rice and bean dish once - I need my protein (nine amino acids) - and it caused a digestive problem.
I don’t possess the fortitude to be vegetarian. I still eat chicken and fish.
But don’t eat pork or any red meat.
And that’s coming from a carnivore who lusts for aged rib eye.
This is strictly my own morality and theology. If invited to someone’s home who is serving red meat of any kind, I will eat it with gratitude.
After the flood, man was given permission to eat meat.
Gen_9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
@timf good call, Genesis 9:3 is the big one. I land where Paul does in Romans 14:3, “The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does.” Honestly I feel more relaxed knowing it’s a conscience thing and not a salvation test. Do you think the Peter vision in Acts 10 settles it, or is there more to it for you?
I think that the vision Peter received was to help him overcome his reluctance to bring the gospel of the kingdom to gentiles.
