The Bible’s pretty clear on this one – 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.

It’s not about being judgmental or exclusive, but about the spiritual implications of being unequally yoked. When you’re both on the same page spiritually, it’s like sailing in the same direction :dizzy:. If not, it can get messy.

It is not so much a matter of what is or is not allowable. If you faith means little to you and you have no interest in growing in your faith, it may not be important to marry a Christian.

One thing to consider is that Christianity is supposed to be about transitioning away from the selfishness of the flesh to the selflessness of Christ-likeness. A non-Christian woman might choose to pursue greater selfishness and that does not make for a happy marriage.

Howdy @riverbank, Welcome to the forums. I hope you find yourself at home here.

I would endevor to answer your question, but with two good answers, that would be like beating a dead horse.

I appreciate you sharing your experience about marriage between a believer and a non-believer. It’s clear your family’s situation caused a lot of friction, and I understand why you’d caution others about potential challenges. Some believers choose to marry non-believers with the hope of sharing their faith, but we also see examples in the Bible where this led to negative consequences, like with King Solomon :folded_hands:. He started out strong, loving God and obeying His commands, but his non-believing wives ultimately led him astray into worshipping other gods .The story of King Solomon is in 1 Kings 11:1-8. He had many foreign wives who led him to worship other gods, which displeased the Lord.

It’s a tough balance, and definitely something to pray about and seek wise counsel on.

DON’T DO IT! Marrying an atheist was the worst mistake I ever made! That’s coming from a guy with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Son, I won’t even define for you the horror that comes from an ungodly woman. Solomon has done that plenty in Proverbs. Read Matthew 12:30 and ask yourself, “wait for God or roll the dice?”
