It is amazing how quickly the trend of preaching/teaching/claiming that Jesus is not God is spreading online. The Father Only, or Father and Son, doctrine has become so popular that it is almost assumed among many new Christians coming into the Faith.
There is so much evidence in the Bible that Christ is God that we could carry on a thread about it for many pages. So let’s do just that. Those who embrace the idea that the Father alone is God, and Jesus is not God, please feel free to make your case and openly discuss all of the Biblical evidence that supports the contrary.
I’m happy to be a new member here and look forward to a lively, respectful discussion.
John1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
If Jesus, is the word, then he made everything, which means he was not made, in other words is God the Son.
John 1 is one of the most attacked chapters of the New Testament concerning Jesus being God. Once they have asserted that it cannot be speaking of Christ, despite the undebatable nature of the wording, they are then (in their minds) free to make many other assertions about other verses that could not stand if John 1 were intact and clear, as we know that it is.
I find a very interesting statement from Christ in John 8:24. We see in the Old Testament that God refers to Himself as “I AM” when telling Moses to go to the Israelites and tell them who sent him. Jesus’ statement in Jn. 8:24 not only declares Himself to be the “I AM”, but indicates that those who do not accept Him to be the God of the OT will not have His blood covering upon their physical death and will “die in their sins”.
Many who wish to claim that Jesus is not God try all manner of approaches to deny and destroy the Truth of this verse. One of their chief objections is that “Jesus never claim to be God.” We see here, and elsewhere, that this is incorrect - He most certainly does, many times, many ways.
There are so many more verses that undeniably prove that Christ is God.
It’s indeed a vital discussion. John 1:1 states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This passage clearly identifies Jesus, the Word, as divine.
Hi,
This is surprising simple to figure out.
If Jesus is not God, He has no power to save.
Think about this.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
If Jesus is not God, He becomes part of the all.
It doesn’t matter how good He was.
None of us (the all) have the power to save ourselves, let alone others.
Jesus has to be different from the all to save all of us.
Here’s what I found through personal Bible study, a very simple way I’ve learned to see Jesus as God. In (Hebrews 1:3), it tells us that Jesus is “the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being.” If that doesn’t blow your mind, I don’t know what will! It reinforces that Jesus is not just reflecting God’s glory; He’s literally showing us what God looks like and how He operates.
To explain it better, I like to think about a smartphone. The device itself, the hardware is important, but it’s the software that gives it its purpose, turning it into something useful. If you take away the software, the phone is just a piece of metal and glass. Similarly, Jesus is the physical embodiment of God; they’re inseparable.
Then, in (John 14:9), Jesus says, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” That’s deep! It’s like He’s saying that when you see Him, you’re seeing God’s heart and character in action. So, for anyone who doubts that Jesus is God, remember this: just like you can’t have a phone without the software, you can’t fully grasp who God is without embracing Jesus.
