I wonder if smoking is a sin???…i would like to read everyone opions ![]()

It is our responsibility to care for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit!
Hmm that is a tough question. I think years ago smoking was so widely and culturally accepted, but that doesn’t mean it was okay. I think like most substances, it is very easy to misuse (overuse) it, and it’s certainly better to never start smoking in the first place, simply for health reasons if nothing else. But as @shalom said, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, so continuing to smoke while knowing today how harmful it is I think could arguably be a sin.
A big concern for me, too, is secondhand smoke. As someone with young children, I have found it very disrespectful the few times I have seen someone smoking at a children’s playground/park, for example, or other places where there are children.
Sin is literally “missing the mark of perfection (holiness)”, so anything you think or do that is imperfect (unholy), even by a hair, is technically sin. Therefore, sin is technically inescapable, although our new living heart in Jesus always strives for sinlessness.
Sin always condemns us to eternal separation from Holy God, but, we know, there is no condemnation to those who are in sinless Jesus (Romans 8:1). So, even though you technically cannot escape sinning, also, technically, sin cannot be accounted to you if you are IN sinless Jesus.
So, this reality causes us to reframe your question “Is smoking a sin?” to “Can smoking remove me from the Grace of Salvation”, and of course, the answer is, no it cannot. But, a better question to ask yourself is probably: “Does smoking testify to a lost world of my redeemed relationship with sinless Jesus?” and I think you will answer yourself that it does not.
Our outward behavior and attitudes are not what keep us in God’s grace nor are they what can remove us from it (some on this forum will disagree). God did all the saving, and God does all the keeping. He cannot fail at this promise, nor can He ever “change His mind” and undo what He has done. However, our outward behavior and attitudes do constantly testify of the hope that is in us, and God has said He is using our personal testimony to reveal Himself to the hopelessly lost people with whom we come in contact on a daily basis. Our newly resurrected hearts are now oriented to wanting to testify of the power of The Gospel in our personal lives. We know how to testify of Jesus by walking in faith, and not by sight; that is, we know how to testify of His love toward us by demonstrating our love for Him. Each day we rise asking The Lord to help us represent Him, and reflect His goodness to a lost world.
My 2 cents
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. (2 Corinthians 9:15)

Smoking gas literally nothing whatsoever to do with culture. Nicotine is a prescription level analgesic, comparable in effect but not in dosage to over the counter aspirin. You have to be over twenty one to smoke, but it’s available legally if you are, because in spite of medical side effects is a prescription strength pain reliever, and if you’re over twenty one you’re responsible enough to know whether you need it or not. The reason it’s so expensive is that people also smoke it just to feel good, and if they had an injury a licensed medical professional recognized as needing treatment, they’d have been able to use insurance coverage. Outside of that, it’s pay your money, take your chances.
Early use of tobacco is very different than the tobacco that has been bred to produce more nicotine and is easy to inhale. It originally was just tasted.
All substances can be dangerous. I am not recommending buying and inhaling cigarettes. It is important to see it in context of other things can be overdone.
