Is Trump's Faith Agenda Advancing Religious Liberty—or Just Christian Power?

As President Trump’s faith-based initiatives expand, Americans are debating whether these policies truly protect religious liberty—or if they’re elevating certain beliefs above others. Join the discussion in Crosswalk Forums.

President Trump has launched several faith-centered programs in his second term, including a revived White House Faith Office and new efforts like the Religious Liberty Commission and the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias. Supporters applaud the bold defense of traditional values, while critics warn these moves may tip the scales too far toward a specific religious ideology.

What’s at stake when the government promotes faith-based initiatives?
Does this strengthen our religious freedoms—or compromise them by playing favorites?

When faith and politics mix, who really benefits?

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Critics say Trump's religion agenda will most benefit conservative Christians | AP News

Trump is SELF-SERVING. The White House Faith Office is a sham and contrary to the first amendment (the government shall not establish a religion). The Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias is also a sham and contrary to the first amendment.

Here is a part of that hour you should listen to - https://youtu.be/DdRSmD7yPtg?t=1610

YouTube? You mean the web site where anyone can post all kinds of nonsense? There is even proof of the existence of Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster, and other fiction.

If and when something on the subject is reported by a legitimate news outlet, I might pay attention, but YouTube? LOL!!!

It’s clear that (discredited) Paula White is directing Trump’s “Christianity” that legitimizes him and the lust for power and wealth. Claiming their “faith” to be Christianity is an ironic tragedy.

And in which characteristic (any one) does Trump bear the slightest resemblance to Jesus Christ???

Whether the Bible uses the terms “master,” “ruler,” “government,” or any other name for an established authority, the instruction is always the same – obey. We must remember that God created the authorities ruling over us just as He created us. As Paul wrote to the Romans, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves” (Romans 13:1-2). Peter wrote, “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right” (1 Peter 2:13-14). Both Peter and Paul also remind slaves repeatedly to be obedient to their masters for the same reasons (Ephesians 6:5-8; Colossians 3:22-25; 1 Timothy 6:1-2; 1 Peter 2:18-20; Titus 2:9-11).

Peace to all,

So true Benny, and so many always ask, "What must one world order do to be saved?

OMNILogically we have to get Caesar on Moses’s seat as it is in Heaven. The Eternal Priestly Authority of spirit and life becomes into the mind of world leaders, rationally through The New Adam from the New Eve for all in The Christ. The full “Sophia” is The Wisdom of the Entire Family One God in being becoming the Mind of Earthly Word Order as it is in Heaven becoming again One God, OMNILogically to me.

Or even in more generalization how to save earth for more abundance for all?

Pope Francis always says, Stephen, “Don’t preach or proselytize, only generalize for all to share as One in Being.” Yes, Papa Francis, God Bless You always. Saying to myself someday we can make an ammendment to the Constitution or something like that, to me.

To me using OMNILoigcalGod logic we can fix World order, in generalization only, to me.
Amendment to constitution to do what He has already came to do.

First Amendment Part 1
An establishment of world order on earth as it is in Heaven, becoming again through both natures in World Order Caesar’s Body, The Governmental Body, spirit and life, in One Body, following the Eternal Priestly Authority in Heaven as it is on Earth trusted and verified from the One who sits on Moses’ seat as it is in Heaven with respect to the fulfilled pattern of infallible undefiled logical intelligence that never fails in all cases following the pattern, “What would Jesus do in all cases of the fulfilled faith and morality of The Christ.” And by law people are reminded not preach or proselytize and only through using generalization and sharing faith we can become again One God.

First Amendment Part 2
Congress shall make no law respecting prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and Caesar must also render to the same God through both Natures for all becoming again One Holy Spirit Family One God in being, to me, OMNILogically.

He came to stop the contention, the mental hate and the mental anger and separation and fear the separation from the from the family and family land and He Came to unite the brothers to each other yet cousins to all mankind who were from Different Mothers and had same father with different names to become brothers and sisters to each other and all mankind through One Mother from One Father for One in The Christ, the Same Family through the flesh from the spirit becoming One Holy Spirit Family One God in being.

We know already, Jesus has already reopened the New Heaven and Earth for all in One Heaven.

Whose face is on the Coin?
We know, all mankind already knows, “Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s.”

Memorial of Saint Philip Neri, Priest

“I have told you this so that you may not fall away.
They will expel you from the holy places;
in fact, the hour is coming when everyone who mocks you
will think he is offering worship to God.
They will do this because they have not known either the Father or me.
I have told you this so that when their hour comes
you may remember that I told you.”

It is interesting to me that the people who support Trump and cite Romans 13 are the same people who don’t apply the same thinking to Biden and others.

Would the same people apply the same Scripture to Hitler, Stalin. Mussolini, Pol Pot, and others?

Peace to all,

We know we are not to judge only, but our own soul. The autonomy of the Holy Spirit is to stand self righteous and justified before him to become again..

And to me, the Holy Spirit is him being non-gender logically all gender, including Saints and angels and Old Covenant saved, and all mankind and the Gods in One Holy Spirit Family One God in being to me.

To me, The question becomes who do we support not who does support anyone but God?. I support the Kingdom of the Divine Will and follow the pattern of infallible certainty. What would Jesus do in all cases of the fulfilled, faith and morality of the Christ.

Please always,
Stephen

Every social order is a theocracy. The only real question is, who is the theos? Christ, or Caesar? The answer leads to radically different forms of social organization.

The satanic lowerarchy (h/t to C S Lewis) is a top-down pyramid. It generates thousands upon thousands of “thou shalt” laws, commanding obedience to the “lawmakers’” whims. Create enough laws (why do we have a Federal Register?) and you can make sure that everyone is always guilty of something.

Godly social order is based upon a common set of laws (10 sounds like a nice number) and applied through a bottom-up decision-making and appeals process. And the main players in applying God’s laws are the “12 good men and true.”

The creator God has his words to us engraved in the KJV Bible. These words came through God’s only begotten son and is now written by his apostles and witnesses in scripture. Satan is out to destroy God’s word by drawing up new translations of the Bible to suit man’s own desires rather than to live by his word to make us better people and to also have a people in heaven that has loved his words to us and the sacrifice of his only begotten son in the flesh. Before Abraham, there were 360 different tribes and each tribe their own god which was made by man’s own hands. Israel was chosen to bring to the world that there was only one true creator God and to bring into the world his only begotten son, Jesus to be the savior for a reeling and destitute world. America became great because the masses of people in America accepted the words to live by through Jesus his son. Any nation rejecting the God of the Bible will come to naught; when Adam brought sin into the world, the Bible stated that things would worsen over time due to the chaos caused by sin. Still, God gives every individual the right to his own choices but within the laws of each nation. America’s laws were predicated on God’s word and is the reason America has prospered. We established laws to give individual freedoms within these laws. God allows each individual total freedom to do or live anyway he desires but there is reckoning with God for each choice that is against God’s words at the end of his life. Also, the laws in America have given freedom to each individual to worship as he pleases but his worship shall not interfere with the laws of the land which gives others rights against an evil way of living. Basic Christianity in America has been good to all of humanity, but has been attacked by evil influences and is corroding progressively each day. Trump is trying to restore the equilibria in America and keep the evil ones from trying to do away with Christianity and its values. The last thing on this reply is that Islam goal is to rule the world, and ironically that is the same exact goal of Satan. I think Trump is doing a great job; I voted for him and will stay with him until his four years are up to see if America is better or worse.

I’m using the Kutsal Kitap translation of the Bible now.

Do you think Turkish folks need to learn archaic English in order to read God’s Word?

The KJV Bible is a flawed translation that is more than 400 years old. It was created to establish King James as God’s chosen leader of the Church of England. In the process he had all negative comments from earlier translations removed so the Bible would glorify him. Sound familiar?

Satan is most definitely NOT out to destroy God’s word by drawing up new translations of the Bible. That is totally false! The newer translations are based on more and better source manuscripts and have been created for us to UNDERSTAND God’s Word. Very few who use the KJV are experts in 17th Century Englyshe, allowing REINTERPRETATION of what the Bible actually says and means.

America initially became great because the Puritans fled King James’ despotic rule, their Geneva translations tucked under their arms. America became great because the masses of people in America accepted the words to live by through Jesus his son.

America’s laws were predicated on God’s word and is the reason America has prospered. However, the current President has no regard for the laws of this nation. → He has been convicted of 34(!) felonies and convicted of sexual abuse. (The felonies were an attempt to cover up the money that Trump paid to a prostitute by entering them as legitimate business expenses).

We agree on one thing: Christianity in America has been good to all of humanity, but has been attacked by evil influences and is corroding progressively each day. That is largely because of the racism and xenophobia generated by Trump. => His attitude and behavior are definitely NOT CHRISTIAN <= I don’t care how high he holds the Bible (upside down!), he is in no way a Christian in word or deed.

Trump is NOT trying to restore the equilibria in America and keep the evil ones from trying to do away with Christianity and its values. His policies, generated by Project 2025, have one purpose: make rich white people richer at the expense of everyone else. He tried to change the basic operation of government by turning the reform over to an immigrant WHO DIDN’T RECEIVE A SINGLE VOTE, and has been forced out after four months of “reform”, disguised to benefit the rich at the expense of everyone else.

I challenge you to give ANY evidence that the goal of Islam is “to rule the world”.

I see Trump in a different light than you. Matthew 4:8-9, "Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. And he said to him, “I will give you all these things if you will fall down and worship me.” That is who directs Trump, for that very reason.

People often cite Romans 13 as Scripture in support of Trump. But let’s look at it more closely. It begins with…

“Let everyone submit to the governing authorities…” => Notice the plural <= It does not say “to the emperor” (singular) but “to the authorities”. Clearly this is not about obeying one man! “Authorities” is PLURAL. In the US we have a SYSTEM of government: three branches, i.e., executive, legislative, and judicial. → Governing authorities ← Why didn’t Paul write “… submit to the Emperor”? Becuase he saw the wisdom of respecting the plurality of government, not just one person. Likewise, verse 3 mentions “rulers”, not “emperor”.

Looking to Donald Trump as “the government” who is to be obeyed is a → misintrepretation ← of Scripture.

Here is more (with my emphasis)… 1 Timothy 2:1-4, “First of all then I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings AND ALL THOSE WHO ARE IN AUTHORITY, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants EVERYONE to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”. Again, notice that Paul is not stressing obedience to one person, but to ALL those in authority. Thinking that Trump, a deeply flawed, corrupt man, is whom we are to obey is CONTRARY TO SCRIPTURE. We are to obey THE GOVERNMENT.

So you think Romans 13 gives a blank check to obey a single man? Please. Let’s exegete that fantasy right out of your theology.

Romans 13:1 starts like this:

Πᾶσα ψυχὴ ἐξουσίαις ὑπερεχούσαις ὑποτασσέσθω
Pasa psychē exousiais hyperechousais hypotassesthō
“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities.”

ὑποτασσέσθω (hypotassesthō) is a present passive imperative – that means it’s a command to submit, yes, but it also implies ongoing, structured submission, not mindless obedience to a tyrant.

ἐξουσίαις (exousiais) – PLURAL. Not “the Emperor.” Not “the President.” Not “your political idol.” This is speaking of systems, offices, institutions. Read it again—authorities, not “your favorite messiah figure in a red hat.”

So no, Paul isn’t endorsing Caesar worship or MAGA messianism. He’s saying, respect the civil structure. In the US, that means checks and balances, three branches, rule of law, not allegiance to one orange-tinged autocrat.

Romans 13:2:

ὁ ἀντιτασσόμενος τῇ ἐξουσίᾳ
ho antitassomenos tē exousia – “The one resisting the authority…”

ἀντιτασσόμενος (antitassomenos) is a present middle participle – it means habitual resistance, not prophetic critique.

What Paul condemns here is lawlessness, not holding a leader accountable.

Now let’s bring out the Holy Spirit fire extinguisher for this Trump-is-anointed nonsense.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 says:

δεήσεις, προσευχάς, ἐντεύξεις, εὐχαριστίας… ὑπὲρ πάντων ἀνθρώπων, ὑπὲρ βασιλέων καὶ πάντων τῶν ἐν ὑπεροχῇ
“Prayers… for all people, for kings and for all who are in authority…”

βασιλέων (basileōn) – plural again.

ὑπεροχῇ (hyperochē) – literally “in elevated station”, not “infallible status.”

There’s no mention of “obey them no matter what”—instead, Paul urges prayers for peaceful governance so we can live godly lives. Not “so we can pretend our leader is God’s chosen one while he mocks the Beatitudes in real time.”

Don’t forget what Jesus said when offered political dominion:

Matthew 4:8-10:

“The devil took him to a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world…”
“All these I will give you,” he said, “if you will fall down and worship me.”
Jesus replied, “Get thee hence, Satan.”

That’s the devil’s offer: the kingdoms, the flags, the rallies, the power. You don’t win the kingdom of God by kissing the ring of Caesar… or Trump.

Acts 5:29:

Πειθαρχεῖν δεῖ Θεῷ μᾶλλον ἢ ἀνθρώποις
Peitharchein dei Theō mallon ē anthrōpois
“We must obey God rather than men.”

Πειθαρχεῖν (peitharchein) – present active infinitive, meaning ongoing loyal obedience.

That’s the line. When man’s rule contradicts God’s Word, you break with man, not with God.

And in case anyone forgot what godly rulers should be doing, check out:

Isaiah 10:1-2:

“Woe to those who make unjust laws…”
“To deprive the poor of their rights…”

That’s the Hebrew verb חָקַק (chaqaq) – “to engrave, decree” – and it’s an active participle here, meaning people actively writing corruption into law. And God says woe to them.

So no, Romans 13 doesn’t give you a theology of tyranny. It gives you a theology of civic respect within the boundaries of righteousness. If your “governing authority” is trampling the poor, mocking truth, and feeding division, he’s the problem, not the point of the passage.

Let’s stop trying to tape Jesus’ name onto political idolatry. He doesn’t run for office—He reigns.

Johann.

Rodace123, I see where you’re coming from—reverence for Scripture, concern over national decay, and a desire to see Christian values restored. I respect the passion. But buckle in, because it’s time to separate biblical truth from well-meaning tradition and political wishcasting.

First off: God’s Word is perfect. The KJV? It’s a translation. A good one, a faithful one, and a cultural icon—but let’s not confuse the container for the contents. The original texts of Scripture were written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Unless the Apostle Paul had a time machine and showed up in 1611 England with a copy of the KJV, let’s not pretend God engraved His Word in King James English with a holy chisel.

And this idea that every modern translation is a satanic ploy? Brother, please. That’s not discernment—that’s paranoia with a leather binding. If Satan wanted to destroy God’s Word, he wouldn’t make it more accessible in hundreds of languages. He’d do what he’s always done: twist it (Genesis 3:1), suppress it, or weaponize it to stroke human pride. The issue isn’t multiple translations—it’s how few people actually read any of them.

Now, about America being blessed because it “accepted Jesus’ words”—partly true. But don’t rewrite history like a Sunday school fable. America wasn’t founded as a theocracy but as a republic where biblical values heavily influenced the moral soil. That’s different than saying we were a covenant nation like Israel. Be careful not to slap Old Testament Israel’s calling onto Uncle Sam like it’s a spiritual name tag.

Yes, righteousness exalts a nation (Proverbs 14:34), and yes, biblical principles built the moral framework for our laws. But let’s not pretend that electing one man will cleanse a nation steeped in abortion, pride parades, and drag queen story hours. You don’t vote your way to revival—you repent your way there.

Trump isn’t the Messiah. He’s a bulldozer. And sometimes God uses a bulldozer to tear down rotten frameworks. But don’t confuse God’s use of a man with divine endorsement of all he says or does. Cyrus was used by God—and he didn’t even know Him (Isaiah 45:4). So let’s stop acting like loyalty to a president is a spiritual litmus test. Loyalty to truth is.

And that part about Islam? You’re not wrong to call it out as a competing kingdom. But don’t mistake fleshly nationalism for spiritual warfare. The goal isn’t to make America Christian by force. It’s to preach Christ crucified—whether in D.C. or downtown Damascus. Our citizenship is in heaven, not Mar-a-Lago.

Want to make America great again? Preach the Gospel. Live holy. Raise up godly families. Elect leaders who fear God—but don’t build your faith on them. Because when Trump is gone, and when America’s gone, the Kingdom of God will still stand.

So here’s the real question: are you living by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God—or just the ones that sound good in red, white, and blue?

Benny, I see what you’re aiming for—cautioning against idolatry of political figures and calling for a deeper reading of Scripture. Fair. But what you’re doing here is slicing up Romans 13 with a butter knife when what’s needed is a sword. So let’s swing the whole thing, not just the verses that fit your thesis.

Yes, Paul wrote “governing authorities”—plural. You know why? Because he was writing under Rome, a pluralistic system with governors, procurators, centurions, and yes, one very singular Caesar who claimed godhood. And guess what? Paul still said to submit. Not because Caesar was righteous—he was a tyrant—but because God establishes all authority (Romans 13:1). That includes kings and constitutions, monarchs and republics, righteous rulers and corrupt ones.

Now let’s talk about that “system” you love to highlight—executive, legislative, judicial. You know what the Constitution actually says about that system? The executive branch executes the laws. That’s the president. The man holding that office is one of the “governing authorities” Paul had in mind. You don’t get to pretend Trump’s not included just because his tweets made you queasy.

The text says to submit. It doesn’t say to worship. Nobody’s asking you to hang gold-leaf portraits of Trump in your living room. But when he was in office, yes—he was due submission, respect, and prayer. Just like Biden is now. That’s biblical fidelity, not political partisanship.

You also pulled 1 Timothy 2—thank you. Let’s read it again: “Prayers…for kings and all who are in authority.” It doesn’t say “only if they’re morally spotless.” If that were the requirement, Paul would’ve run out of people to pray for before he put ink to papyrus.

And let’s not act like Trump was trying to usurp a plural system. He was elected under it, operated within it, and was opposed by it at nearly every turn. If anything, the text you cited applies even more strongly to him, because submission to governing authorities becomes a true test of the heart when you don’t like the one holding office.

Now let’s cut to the core: the issue isn’t Trump. It’s truth. You don’t get to redefine “submission” to mean “only the leaders I like.” That’s not biblical submission—that’s rebellion in a Sunday suit. If God can use Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus, Pharaoh, and Caesar to accomplish His purposes, then He can absolutely use Donald J. Trump.

And let’s not forget the ultimate authority isn’t Congress or courts—it’s Christ. He reigns, and He sets kings up and brings them down (Daniel 2:21). If your theology can’t handle that, it’s not the government you’re submitting to—it’s your feelings.

This message isn’t about defending a man. It’s about declaring the truth to those who have ears to hear.

—Sincere Seeker. Scripturally savage. Here for the Truth.

Great post Johann!!! Thanks so much! It is astonishing to me that people are so seduced by a wordly, evil dictator that they misinterpret God’s word to justify their blind obedience to him rather than to God.

@Benny

What truly grieves me, brother, is this–
forums meant to exalt Christ end up kneeling before politics.
Not the kingdom of God, but the kingdoms of this world take center stage.

The Word is no longer the sword (Heb_4:12)–
Instead, it’s wielded like a political club to fight culture wars, push partisan dogma, or baptize manmade ideologies.
Jam_3:17 – “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason…”
Where is that spirit today?

Christ Jesus is pushed aside, not for atheism, but for activism…
Not for sin, but for slogans.

Joh_18:36 – “My kingdom is not of this world…”—yet how quickly believers act like it is.

If men gave half as much time to trembling before Scripture as they do to defending their favorite party, platform, or personality,
we would see revival.
If they argued over Romans 5 or Galatians 3 like they argue over elections,
apologists would be on fire again.

Isa_66:2 – “To this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at My word.”
2Ti_4:2–3 – “Preach the word… for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine…”
That time isn’t coming—it’s here.

Shalom.

Johann.
