Why was Jesus born on Nisan 1?
- Because it is exactly the same day that God’s presence filled the Tent of Meeting (Ex 40:2, Ex 40:34). This event foretold the incarnation of God (John 1:14, the greek word “skenoo” literally means “to tent”). On the same day that God came to earth to live in a tent, God also came to earth to live in a human body. In the New Testament we can clearly see that the old Jewish feasts are fulfilled in Jesus. Some examples: Jesus was sacrificed on the cross on the same day that the Passover lamb was sacrificed, because he is the true Passover lamb, the 14th of Nisan; and Jesus was resurrected on the same day that the first fruits were celebrated, because he is the first to rise from the dead to eternal life, the 16th of Nisan. So it makes sense that Jesus was born on a special Jewish day.
- Since Jesus is the true Passover lamb (John 1:29), it makes sense that Jesus was born in the month of Nisan, a spring month, because according to the law the Passover lamb must be 1 year old (Ex 12:5). 1 year before the Passover is the month of Nisan. So Nisan is the month when the Passover lambs were born.
- Nisan 1 is the beginning of the new year (Ex 12:2). Jesus was born on the New Year because he is the beginning of the new creation (2 Cor 5:17).
Side note: Most likely the April Fools’ Day has its origin in the birthday of Jesus, since Nisan 1 was also called April 1. The enemies of Christ have turned his birthday into a day of mockery.
Why was Jesus born in 5 BCE?
Bible records:
- that Jesus’ ministry began when he was baptized at the age of 30 (Luke 3:21-23)
- that Jesus’ ministry lasted 3.5 years (Daniel 9:27; 4 Passovers: John 2:13, 5:1, 6:4, 11:55)
- that Jesus was baptized in the 15th year of Tiberius (Luke 3:1)
- that Jesus was born before Herod died (Matt 2:20)
History records:
- that Tiberius 15th year of his reign was 26 CE (his co-princeps began in 12 CE)
- that Herod died 4 BCE
Conclusions:
- If the 15th year of Tiberius is 26 CE, then Jesus was 30 years old at that time. If Jesus was 30 years old in 26 CE, then he was born 5 BCE. So the crucifixion of Jesus was 30 CE, since Jesus ministry lasted 3.5 years. And since Jesus was crucified on the 14th of Nisan, he was crucified only 13 days after his birthday, which means he was 34 years and 13 days old when he died.
Why will Jesus return on Tishri 1?
When Jesus first came into the world, he primarily fulfilled the spring feasts. He was born, died, and resurrected at the spring feasts of the month of Nisan. However, at his first coming, he did not fulfill the autumn feasts, which take place in the month of Tishri. Jesus will return on Tishri 1 because Tishri 1 is the Feast of Trumpets (Lev 23:24), and according to the Bible, Jesus will come when the trumpets are blown (1 Thess 4:16). A few days later is the Feast of Atonement (Yom Kippur), the Day of Reckoning, which refers to the Day of Judgment. And a few days later is the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), which refers to Paradise (John 14:2-3).
Why will Jesus return in 2030?
Early Christians from the first and second century (like chapter 15 of the Barnabas Epistle) believed that the world exists for only 7 days, with each day representing 1000 years. It is called the “Millennial Day Theory.” The first 4 days were between Adam’s fall and Jesus’ ascension, the next 2 days are between Jesus’ ascension and Jesus’ return, the last 7th day is the Millenial Kingdom, and after the 7th day the whole world will be destroyed and a new eternal world will be created. Jesus died in the year 30 CE according to most scholars. 40 days after his resurrection, he left the world and returned to his Father. This means that Jesus will return in 2030.
Didn’t Jesus say no one knows the hour?
It is not what it seems. For example, Revelation 19:12 says that Jesus has a name that no one knows except him. Does this mean now that the almighty father does not know the name? Because it literally says that “no one except Jesus” knows the name. Any reasonable person would say that the Almighty Father knows the name anyway. So how are Jesus’ words to be understood that no one knows the hour? The answer is that “not knowing” actually means “not revealing.” So at the time Jesus said this, it was not yet ready to be revealed. Later it was apparently revealed to the disciples because apostle Peter indicates in 2 Peter 3:8-9 that Jesus’ return will take at least a thousand years, so he must have known at what time Jesus would return.
