Lord each time I want to spend time in your word and your presence there are so many distractions and things running in my mind
take me back to when I would read your word and understood it amen
Praying for your time with the Lord! It’s so easy in this day and age to give in to distractions. They’re everywhere! Praying you would have clarity to set any needed boundaries and that your focused time with the Lord would be rich and spiritually fulfilling and would make you hunger after more.
@Louise65 I have felt that way many times. I want to spend more time in prayer and conversation with God..but I have Him in my head all day long. Some days He is RIGHT HERE and others He is near, and I can feel Him..but I have to do this, go there, be here, be available to those I love..and then I would just give in to “feeling tired”. Now, I use apps on my phone when I don’t have my physical Bible with me, or I’m working. I can play scripture while working and stay right in His word, especially when I need it, wake up to a verse being the screen lock on my phone for that day, if I need encouragement, or want to encourage another, or testify publicly I can open one of my apps and look up verses, passages and references for the moment’s need, and work plans, do devotionals and more. No, it’s not my hard copy, which I love, but it’s handy.
If you have a cell phone it means you can take scripture anywhere with you and always have it on hand..until we can’t. That’s coming. As a child I was taught to memorize scripture because one day we wouldn’t have the Bible. That’s coming too.
I think I’m trying to encourage you here, and doing a lousy job of it lol. All I can say, is that now I can’t start my day without verses..first thing. Not email, social media or any notifications. I open the bible app and read and meditate on the Daily Verse. I cannot start my day any other way now. I’ve tried, It was BAD. I also now, cannot end my day without verses, in my physical Bible and prayer.
It has taken me a long time to get here. Just keep your Bible in sight all the time. Put it on the kitchen table, coffee table, bathroom counter (for real!), your passenger seat (yes, this too lol), anywhere..everywhere. You will start to pick it up and randomly open it to verses, and read something that speaks to you, and you’ll want to read more to find out what you’ll discover next! It really is something to pursue. Putting your phone down will get so easy and you’ll start to lose track of it, social media will bore you or upset you so much you stay off of it, and you’ll actually start to yearn for that Bible. You’ll see.
