The Apostle Paul - 2 Corinthians 10:5 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Notice his choice of words here, “demolish”. Jesus said, “I came to destroy the works of the devil”.
When anyone sets their arguments and/or pretensions (claim or assertion) against the knowledge of God; in other words, knowingly against God’s righteousness, it gets “DEMOLISHED”.
Lets start with Lust: Lust is an abomination to God because unlike love, Lust is a sinful distortion of love, often times it pretends to be the same as love. The practice’s of Sodom and Gomorrah were a very ugly stench in Gods nostrils, they were not taking captive every thought to make it obedient with God’s word, they were too busy chasing their lusts, and GOD, not man, being the ultimate Judge of whether they were in love or in lust, whether they were in bondage or marriage, condemned them unto death and Demolished them and they’re practice. In their Lust, they showed no respect even for the Holiness of Angels. However, it doesn’t just start and stop at Sodom and Gomorrah; Herod Antipas, at his birthday party, for the Lust of his step daughter Salome, the daughter of his wife Herodias, beheaded John the Baptist, God’s prophet, at his wife’s request or else, his wife would not let him have her daughter.
Now lets talk about Love. The Holy Spirit teaches through the bible that Love takes on different forms that God encourages, in order to have a full life. Love God, Brotherly love, Love thy neighbor, Love your enemy, Love the word, Love your wife, God so loved the world, Love the Gospel; “for it is the power of salvation to all those who believe”.
Love GOD with “ALL” your heart and mind and soul.
So what’s the difference! Love comes from God and Lust comes from sin. The OT tells us that God does not Judge a man buy his power, stature, influence or wealth, God Judges the heart.
When God, through His word, tells us to Love those outside of marriage, such as, brotherly, or neighborly, or any other form that lines up with His righteousness, He is not telling us to LUST after them showing that Sex stays in the marriage. To God, Love is that which lines up with His righteousness, and Lust is that which lines up against God’s righteousness.
Now don’t get me wrong, everything we do is a choice. GOD doesn’t forget how He created us, He too will choose to judge us, because He “CHOSE” to die for us, because He “CHOSE” to Love us. We take after Him.
What ever your pretension, remember that lust can not disguise itself or hide from Gods righteous and Divine Judgment, or from the Holy Spirit’s discernment and/or condemnation, or fool the Holy Spirit into thinking it’s love. The choice is yours alone.
