Thanks Peter. I realize Israel’s presence brings controversy. Looks like you got a thumbs down from someone. I know this forum has preterist views. And other views that do not favor an Israeli return. I was fortunate enough to land with Macarthur in my early Christian years. I had no concept of the reformed vs evangelical traditional differences. But started going to Jmac’s church in 1987 (just around the time his preaching starting turning toward the reformed perspective).
In the reformed tradition, there is a history of covenantalism that is very different than dispensational. So I understand it is a rarity for reformed views to see Israel and having a continuing unique track with the Lord. Jmac was not just a reformed preacher, but he kind of stuck his neck out highlighting that if we get Israel wrong, we get eschatology wrong.
I had no idea I was under teaching for so long that kept its foot in door for Israel. Now, a decade after leaving the reformed perspective I have seen quite a number of things i had never considered while remaining in the streams of domestic reformed consciousness of thought and theology. Now seeing so many sides, even though i differ greatly with the reformed perspective, I feel pretty blessed that the pastor I ended up with for so many years was somewhat of an evangelical pillar. Even for those who might disagree, the place Jmac occupied in that role was unique, unusual, and rather a quite loud wave. Sometimes I wonder if Jmac was some form of grand reach into evangelicalism to pepper it with reformed doctrines. But I supposed it could also be noted that Jmac’s views on Israel might have impacted the reformed world evangelically (in an eschatological way) too.
The claim that the Rothschilds were involved in Scholfield from what I understand is nowhere proven. But something said all the time. In addition, it is said that the Balfour Declaration was supported by Lord Rothchild. Now that one is accurate. But what is often missed is that Lionelle Walter Rothchild was kind of the black sheep (in their eyes) of the Rothchild enterprise. If Israel is some master mind plan of the central banking system, they could not have found the least impressive Rothchild to hook it to (please see below)…
Lionelle Walter Rothchild left central banking to travel the world as Dr. Dolittle. He had such a great interest in animals, that he wanted his own zoo and built a private one at his own home. The Balfour Declaration was signed in 1917. That was 9 years after Lionelle left the banking system.
FROM WIKIPEDIA ON THE MAN
Rothschild was 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) tall, suffered from a speech impediment, and was very shy,[6] but he had his photograph taken riding on a giant tortoise and drove a carriage harnessed to four zebras to Buckingham Palace to prove that zebras could be tamed. – See…Dr. Dolittle.
FROM AN ARTICLE
Lionel Walter Rothschild (1868–1937) amassed the greatest private natural history collection ever put together by one person and housed it in his own museum in Tring, in Hertfordshire, England. Built in 1889, the museum first opened to the public in 1892.
. . . . .
So the Balfour Declaration was supported by the most accomplished natural history collector in world history up to that date. Interesting parallel. Israel being quite an history social order. As well as a man who left the pursuit of money (influenced by his family) that wanted his own zoo because he loved animals so much. And built one in his own backyard. I can’t think of a worse Balfour rep than that, can you? Blessings.
Good Fight Ministries is a channel worth watching. I am not charismatic and I don’t believe we can lose our salvation, but I do like a lot of the work they do. Like Joel Richardson, they do not ascribe to the prettrib rapture. In that, what i found of particular interest was the documentary they did on Darby. And the critique of that documentary by Tommy Ice.
I’d be of the first to say that the pretrib camp can be guilty of smuggling in verses that don’t belong…like “One in the field/One grinding at the mill” found in Matt 24. But this critique of a documentary is extremely well researched and presented. And regardless of the side of the issue we are on, wow this really demonstrates how powerful bias is in our day. And how willing the church at large is to have her way, so it would seem. Its a long video, but is great critique not only on Good Fight Ministries approach, but our generational trend to copy and past media buzz memes that have no anchor in reality. Really a great watch.
