We are blessed to have a member on the Forum who is from Russia. That is, he is not simply “from” Russia-- he is a current citizen and resident of Russia.
With his permission I’m initiating this thread to reintroduce @Farid to Crosswalk while hoping that he might share some of his unique perspectives from that Russian nationalist point of view. I’m excited to hear his views on a variety of current events (please move this thread if you think it best) --and in particular, viewpoints on President Putin, President Trump, the ongoing conflict with Ukraine (and how to end it) as well as a variety of other topics including matters of faith, belief and religious practices.
Dear friend, I am not a nationalist; I am a Christian. I believe that Christianity knows no nations, divisions, or borders. A true Christian does not discuss politics and rulers. As a Christian, I am against any war and cruelty where people suffer. I am against false priests who, on one hand, bless war and, on the other, claim to consider it right. What do you think Jesus Christ Himself would say in response?
I am a child of God, just like all of you, and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is our Teacher. In this life, we learn and change, and with prayer, we ask God for the Holy Spirit. We ask that those who do not believe come to faith in God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. I feel great sorrow for all the people in Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Palestine, and the USA who have suffered in the fire and in the plane crash. As Christians, we can only pray for them. And I will say this: there is no need to fight or wage war with anyone. The Lord said, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” but we must fight against what resides within each person.
hmmm… okay. Perhaps I should have said it will be interesting to hear the perspectives of a Russian National— someone who lives in Russia. (That’s kind of what I did say). “Nationalist” is not a dirty word, by the way. From the American perspective it can be understood as Patriot, or even America First. It just means that as a Nation, we are self-determined and not subject to anyone, but God above.
One Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
I think most people, no matter what country they are from or live in, would agree with these sentiments. No lone likes war… yet we have one. Russia and Ukraine are deeply entrenched in a conflict. How do you feel about that war, specifically? Was Russia right to invade Ukraine and to reclaim what they consider lost territory, or to protect their national security interests? Or is it a simple matter of Ukraine being victimized and over run by Imperialists?
Dear friend, I understand the quality of the translation; it’s nothing to worry about. There are different translations: English, British, American, and it is certainly possible to translate with a different accent. You know, as Christians, we should obey the authorities where we live, but often the local government puts a Christian in a position of choice. Of course, what is God’s belongs to God, and what is Caesar’s belongs to Caesar, but for a Christian, God comes first, along with His laws and decrees. Sometimes, the laws of rulers contradict the norms of a Christian, and this has happened more than once in Russia. But, as I mentioned earlier, I will not discuss this; I do not engage in politics. Nevertheless, Russia is a vast country, and it will take a long time to travel around it. It has the Golden Ring of Russia, which consists of the oldest cities. I know that those who have never been to a certain country mistakenly think it is terrible and bad, perhaps due to TV or rumors. However, many foreigners come and live here, even in villages (on farms).
The dump truck driver used to drive a long bus. In Russia, there are many nations, cultures, and religions, and, thank God, we coexist; everyone respects each other. I enjoy the diverse cuisine. I was born and lived in the Soviet Union, and my childhood was magical, like a beautiful dream. It is far from Russia, in the south. As boys, we swam on inflatable rings in the river, and along the river hung apples, peaches, and grapes, and we would swim over and pick them. Then, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, a war broke out between the nations, and we were forced to move to Russia to live with relatives, and so we stayed. I’m sorry for writing such things.
This is a news item today. Trump has said that he anticipates an end to the conflict within his first 100 days in office. That would be by April 29th.
What do you think of parts of Ukraine becoming part of Russia to end the war?
The Kremlin said Tuesday a “significant part” of Ukraine “wants to be Russia,” hours after President Donald Trump floated the idea that Ukraine “may be Russian someday.”
Addressing the three-year conflict between Moscow and Kyiv in a Fox News interview that aired Monday, Trump said: “[Ukraine] may make a deal, they may not make a deal. They may be Russian someday, or they may not be Russian someday.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday the situation in Ukraine “largely corresponds to President Trump’s words.”
“The fact that a significant part of Ukraine wants to become Russia, and has already, is a fact,” he told reporters, referring to Moscow’s 2022 annexation of four Ukrainian regions.
“Any phenomenon can happen with a 50% probability – either yes or no,” Peskov added.
Trump has said ending the fighting is one of his priorities for his first months in the White House, but is yet to outline specific proposals for how he plans to bring the two sides to the negotiating table.
We are divided by borders, philosophies, religions, and racial prejudices. This is how we live, destroying each other in endless and insane wars. All of this will continue until the Lord Jesus Christ returns.
It’s reported that Russia controls around 112,000 sq km of Ukraine (about 20% of it’s land mass) while Ukraine has control over about 450 sq km of Russian (Kursk Region) territory (around 0.00263185% of Russia’s 17+ million sq km land mass).
I think a quick end to this war is right around the corner.
Dear friend, please tell me what all of this gives you? It is so important to you. Everything belongs to God and only to Him. What a person owns or governs is only allowed by God. I do not want to comment on politics; they bring nothing good to people.
America in large part- funded the slaughter. The Biden Administration, with help from willing accomplices in the media, force-fed the people manufactured “news” for three straight years, that Ukraine was winning this war-- and just needed a little help to do so. In fact, it was a massive money-laundering scheme.
It’s important Farid, because people (on both sides) are dying. It should never have happened.
