Navigating Conflict and Communication in Marriage

Continuing the discussion from Seeking Guidance: Navigating Conflict and Communication in Marriage:

@flytosky, I created this topic in the “Marriage” category usng your excellent title, as the forum has recently had more of these marriage-type posts and prayer requests.

It seems that sometimes simple solutions tend to be more succesful for complicated problems. Have you invited your spouse onto the forum?

Just a couple of foundational things to consider that might be exacerbating:

  1. One or both of you might be HSP (highly sensitive persons). Our emotional intensity can be mapped onto a spectrum. Some folks have very low emotional responses, while other are very high. Some are off the scale. They aren’t sick, or broken, or handicapped. They just feel things more intensely. It’s good to know that, so that understanding and allowances can be made. Google HSP.
  2. The endocrine system partially regulates emotions, especially from the thyroid gland. Wide emotional swings might be an indicator of thyroid problems. My wife had thyroid cancer, and the treatment included removal of the thyroid. She is a changed woman.

Don’t forget we serve a powerful God! Let your love selflessly guide your prayers, for the best interest of your spouse. Be ready to change your perspective as well!
