How’s everyone doing this morning/this week? We weathered a winter storm, but we didn’t lose power and it wasn’t as bad as expected.
Whatever the weather where you are or whatever you’re going through, here’s a reminder that his mercies are new every morning.
I have a picture beside my bed that looks a bit like this one with this verse on it, and then it has the question:
“These lily pads lie open and silent for the Lord’s new mercies each morning. How about you?”
This picture has been beside my bed for years, but it still gets straight to my heart every time I look at it.
How about you?
Those are beautiful images and a really gentle question to start the week with.
I love the phrase “lie open and silent.” It feels like such an honest picture of what receiving mercy actually looks like — not striving, not proving anything, just being present and receptive. Some mornings that comes easily, and other mornings it feels like a quiet act of trust rather than a feeling.
I’m grateful for the reminder that mercy isn’t something we have to earn or catch up to after a hard week. It’s already there when we wake up, even if we’re tired, distracted, or still carrying yesterday with us. Thank you for sharing this — it’s the kind of reminder that lingers.
