I can’t tell my life story because it would just take too long. As a kid my parents sent me to Sunday school. They stayed home and sent me. I could smell the bacon and eggs cooking as I left. A little old lady with blue hair and support hose picked me up. The church was miles from our home and none of the other kids lived anywhere near me. In this church I learned about Jesus and the OT stories; Daniel in the lion’s den, Moses etc.
During my childhood I had a lot of recurring nightmares. I still remember them and they were terrifying. I would wake up in the night full of fear and go crawl into my parents bed. This happened a lot until my mother wagged her finger in my face and told me to stop. No on got a good nights sleep. I never said anything about why I did it and she didn’t ask.
That very same night, I woke up from a nightmare. I went to my parent’s bedroom door and just stood there. I wasn’t allowed to get in their bed, but what was I going to do? The terror of the dream was still on me. Then I heard a voice say, “Why don’t you ask Jesus?” I hadn’t thought of that! I asked Him by singing a song I learned in Sunday school. It went something like, “Come in to my heart Lord Jesus. Come in to stay. Come in I pray. Come in to my heart Lord Jesus.” Immediately my chest felt like it was clean and full of light. I remember thinking that I didn’t know I was dirty in there. No more fear. The fear was gone and I had this amazing peace.

The testimony was profoundly impactful; when discussing the heart, I experienced a palpable sensation in my chest, a lingering power that persists as I write, evoking a connection to the Holy Spirit, which also brought to mind scripture.
