The real question is should i be concerned with politics or “current events”. The way my family was always were was they’re very conservative and Christian, voted for Trump. but me i don’t know enough about it to be concerned…nor do i want to be. That really worries my sister. I have a reputation of being “gullible”, Apparently i hear it’s even unsafe to walk in town (something i used to love to do) because there are some crazy woke liberals that will target me for just being conservative and will attack me violently. My sister was saying that if Trump hadn’t won, we would probably go into hiding. (she swore to secrecy on that but now that Trump is in..she might be less worried but still worried.)
My question is should i really be that concerned with current events and politics? I always avoided politics as a rule. but to my family that’s one of the parts that make me gullible… i’d like to know your thoughts..
Treat others as you would have them treat you. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
If you respect the boundaries of others, treat them fairly, and avoid sin:
- such as forcing yourself upon them,
- being inhospitable,
- pushing out your boundary out to make your property bigger while making your neighbor’s boundary smaller,
If you follow this, why would they become hostile?
They probably aren’t really upset with you personally if you have not done anything wrong. It probably just looks that way on the news. Right?
If you treat people right, justly, you wont inspire hate. So don’t worry. Do you agree?
It is wise for people to learn how to get along and work out their differences. The “WOKE” and the “RIGHT” are each about half the population of America. More than a million each by far.
That is a lot of blood that will be spilled by both parties should it come to war. If that happens, no one will be safe. Then you should fear. No matter where in the world you are.
Because the world around us will jump into the fight. People will join on both sides, use weapons and tech. So much blood will be spilled. And those who orchestrate, innitiate, participate in this war will be hunted down by nations to pay for that war. And their crimes. With their lives.
Love thy neighbor. It’s wisdom so don’t take it lightly.
Yes, politics are scary. My vote was opposite of one of my children. That child was cruel upon finding out where my vote went and now is no longer speaking to me.
I find it refreshing to meet Christians who are not so focused on politics and current events. Jesus’ primary concern was not in those things. I believe our focus should be on sharing the truth (God’s Word) in love with people from all groups or backgrounds, and to love our neighbors (even the “woke” crowd) as ourselves.
But since I am often bombarded with news from people around me (I live in a highly conservative, deep red state), who constantly share with me the latest updates on Fox News, I use the information I’m given as an opportunity to pray. So instead of getting riled up (as many around me often do) about the evil things people say and do in this fallen world, I instead bring those people and situations to God. For example, if I hear about an injustice such as women getting hurt by trans athletes who are actually men, I ask God to protect the women, but also I pray for the trans (and those who support the LGBT+ lifestyle) to be convicted and turn to our Lord Jesus, and to be set free from the deception of the Evil One. This is just one example of many kinds of politics and current events I end up praying about.
I also try not to join in with others around me in slandering people we hear about on the news who do not agree with conservative views (or even those who on the side of evil), but to view them with the eyes of Christ. This can be lonely as it is a not popular thing right now to love our enemies, but I want do Jesus’ will more than anything.
Every now and then, we need to remind Caesar that Jesus is Lord, and he isn’t. That basic facet of reality drives our would-be masters insane with envy! (I just read Daniel 5 and 6 this morning.)
I think we Christians need to be careful about politicians that might be trying to manipulate us to get power, by promising us the things that we so desperately want to hear, just to get votes. I would rather vote for people who promise to treat everyone fairly, rather than promising to make things just the way Christians want. Their constituents aren’t all going to be Christians, and they deserve to be treated fairly also. Politics is scary, I agree, because politics is a temptation for politicians to get more and more manipulative, to get more and more power. Every day, I pray for the discernment to refuse to vote for power hungry politicians, and to vote for people who truly want to serve ALL of their constituents.
