Lord our family is running from the devil. The evil one has pursued me all my life. I need space to heal but also to listen. Amen
He is real. He does have the power of death. Meaning he can end human life on earth. However, he is not what you may think. One yes. He is real. Yes. He is powerful. Look at this warning.
âBe sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.â 1 Peter 5:8-9
Yes, the devil is real. The devil will not force you to do anything. He will make whatever you desire seem obtainable. He will make something seem right. He will whisper in your ear. He will feed your desire. Keep this in mind.
âAnd he said, âWhat comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.â Mark 7:20-23
However, he is not a red, wrinkled-faced, horned-headed, tail-wagging, pitchfork-wielding demon from hell. The Bible calls him an âangel of lightâ {2 Corinthians 11:14}, the âprince of the power of the airâ {Ephesians 2:2}, and the âDay Star, son of Dawnâ {Isaiah 14:12}. Truth is, if the devil himself were to open those doors and walk down the aisle, many people would fall at his feet, thinking he was Jesus Himself. Or they would think he was some sort of angel, which is true. He IS an angel. He is the first angel. The fairest of all the angels.
Here is another very important part to remember, also. He is not a god. He does control the physical realm. He does have the power of sickness and disease. He does have the power of death. He can and most definitely does tempt you. Whisper in your ear. But he can not make you do anything.
âSubmit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.â James 4:7
