Prayers for the annoying person in Bible study group

7 Ways to Pray for the Annoying Person in Your Bible Study

Fall Bible studies and small groups are in full swing, so I figured this may be relevant.

We’ve all probably encountered a person in Bible study or community group who annoys us for whatever reason. I’ll be honest, I can think of a couple people…

But I may be the annoying person at times, too. Really, this is a call for prayer for my own heart and learning to turn to prayer as my first line of defense when I’m feeling irked or annoyed. Whatever the other person is doing, I know God says to me like he said to Peter, “What is that to you? Follow me” (John 21:22).

Praying for a tender heart toward others this season. :beating_heart:

7 Ways to Pray for the Annoying Person in Your Bible Study

Yeah, I’ve been the annoying person before . . . especially when I was younger. Let’s coat ourselves in the kindness of Christ and be servant-minded, helping others see the truth, as we remember how we ourselves have been from time to time

That’s such a good reminder. I think God often uses the “annoying” person to expose what’s still impatient or prideful in us. Sometimes the hardest people to love end up being the ones who grow our character the most.

Do you think it’s possible that every Bible study group needs one person who tests everyone’s grace a little, to keep us humble and dependent on the Spirit?

That’s a good point. I think when we are annoyed about something or someone, it’s so much more often about the work God wants to do in our own hearts if we are open to the Spirit doing that work.
