Praying for People We’ll Never Meet

This season I’ve been struck by how many people around the world are suffering, and how helpless I often feel. But then I think: prayer may be one of the few ways we can stand with people we’ll never meet. Do you ever pray for strangers? Places you’ve only read about?

I found when riding on a train simply praying for strangers to hear the gospel clearly presented to be beneficial for me. It sort of helps me keep my mind focused on what is truly important.

There are many Christian organisations that seek to help the poor around the world.

Do you support these Christian organisations and does your church support them, while also seeking to help those in need in your town?

James 12:”**15 **Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. **16 **If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? **17 **In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

Sometimes, I find that the Spirit prompts me to say a prayer for a stranger I happened to interact with that day—a grocery store worker, a customer service representative I spoke with on the phone, a mom at the park. I am reminded that everyone has their own struggles and challenges and I love to think that in heaven everything will come full circle and we will see even more meaning behind why our paths crossed.
