Relationships with Jesus and my family

Please pray for me. I need to renew my relationship with Jesus Christ. I’m a believer and have faith, but I can’t seem to build a relationship with Jesus. I talk to him and ask him to help me. I pray for peace, protection and strength. I need prayer for my relationship with my 18 year old granddaughter. We just moved into a new apartment and seem to argue like never before. She just turned 18 and thinks she knows it all. She doesn’t help around the house and when I ask her to help out it’s always I will do it later and it never gets done. I know I need to pray myself for this situation but I seem to always hit a wall. I used to have a strong relationship with Jesus. I was in full time ministry for over 12 years, a long time ago. Please help me? Thank you

You’re not alone. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and never forgets those who have served Him. Keep talking to Jesus. He hears you. May He soften hearts, renew your spirit, and bring peace into your home and your relationship with your granddaughter.

Welcome. What I am about to say is going to be so much easier to do than it sounds. Sit quietly. Think about your daily routines. Be honest. Think about your habits, hobbies, and daily activities. Then, still sitting quietly, think about it weekly. Monthly. Think about your finances. Then meditate on one or more of these passages.

“You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

“I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me, 6 that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:5-6

“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,” 1 Timothy 2:5

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8

What have you prioritized in your life, possibly without realizing it? What are you truly seeking: God or the world? Remember, God promises that if we “seek first the kingdom of God,” He will take care of everything else.

Are you still going to church? Sounds like you are not. Find a local church that teaches the truth. Conest again with your family of God. Serve again. Pray, show your daughter the ways of a Godly woman. No fights. Not guilt trips. My mother was great at those. Just show her by example. Kids will always see more of what you do than hear what you say.

Entrust her to God. As a parent of four children, I genuinely hope they all choose to follow Him; however, I have a feeling that one of them might not. Ultimately, this decision is deeply personal, made between the individual and God. Trust me, if I could, I would go around and slap people in the head to be saved! If only it were possible.
