Whenever something happens like this, I wonder what I would do in a similar situation. Is this something worth taking a stand for or is it causing unnecessary controversy and distracting from sharing the gospel?
There’s no doubt it causes controversy. The alternative is to do nothing and just go along. That doesn’t seem like the right choice to me. These men have the right to not go along with something they don’t believe in and something they disagree with. This was there way of making that known to all who are were watching.
Throughout time going all the way back to the apostles, Christians have spoken to unwelcome masses on the gospel of Jesus and paid the price for doing so. But in the meantime, they convinced and won individuals to Christ and that was the reason they did it. They knew and expected opposition, and did it anyways.
We always have that choice. Keep quiet and go along or stand up for what we know is true. Both choices have a cost attached. To remain quiet invites complacency and to stand up invites controversy. Not much of a choice. I admire the courage of these men.
You make good points. These kind of situations just always make me reflective, wondering if I would have the wisdom to see the moment as an important one in which to take a stand and then have the courage to do so.
I agree that homosexuality is sin but why does the churches seem to not understand their own sin? Economic politics are sin because it teaches us to complain, argue, worry and boast about the economy. Jesus said not to worry about life’s necessities but to seek the kingdom and God’s righteousness and God will take care of us, and he wants us to give freely to each other as well. These politicians are leading Christians into sin that dishonors and disobeys God our supplier. God gives both prosperity and adversity and we dont know what tomorrow will bring therefore no man can boast or complain about the economy. This is all evil. The Bible said not to complain.
And Christian women adorn themselves with outward beauty but the apostles said not to do that. And preachers and their flock are rich while 9 million people die each year of hunger and malnutrition related diseases. They need medical care as well while the church lives in excess. Its wrong. Scripture says that judgment begins at the house of God.
It is always right to stand up for what you believe in. The people forcing the ballplayers to wear “Pride” hats against their consciences need to be disciplined.
That is a very hard thing to do when it comes to employment, where you need it to support your family. If it goes deeply against my religious beliefs, which wearing a pride flag would go against my beliefs, even though I have a gay daughter (she does not do anything with the in your face pride nonsense, just wants to live her life and she knows all the Bible verses…), I would take a stand. I would not work at a place where I was forced to wear a pride flag, wear an abortion rights emblem etc. If I was told I had to for one day I would take a leave of absence. If being threatened for loss of employment I would start looking seriously and believe God would open a door. I appreciate the men who wrote scriptures and would probably do that even knowing a reprimand would be coming because it shows others there are people willing to not go along with a sick culture of trying to force people to embrace a lifestyle they don’t believe in.
Christians and Christian churches do more good in and around the world than any other group. This requires funds.
