Should Airlines Be Required to Seat Families Together Without Charging Extra?

Many airlines charge passengers to select specific seats, which can make it difficult for families traveling with young children to sit together without paying additional fees.

Should airlines be required to seat parents next to their young children at no extra charge? Or is seat selection a service that airlines should be allowed to charge for?

Where would you draw the line between a reasonable airline fee and something that should be included in the ticket price?

Hmm interesting question. We never pay extra for family seating, but the airlines have always done their best to accommodate us if we’re traveling with our kids. We’ve never experienced an issue with this. Or other passengers are usually happy to switch seats if needed. I have found people to be so gracious when I’m traveling with kids.
