Should Christians Celebrate Jewish Feasts Like Passover and Sukkot?

Are these ancient festivals a shadow of Christ—or a sacred rhythm worth reclaiming?

From Passover to Sukkot, Jewish festivals are rich with symbolism, history, and deep theological meaning. They’re not just cultural traditions—they were God-ordained rhythms for His covenant people. And in recent years, more and more Christians have begun revisiting these celebrations, not just to understand their Jewish roots, but to see Christ in them.

But that raises a bigger question: Should Christians actually celebrate these feasts today?

Some say yes—pointing out how Jesus Himself observed them, how the early Church emerged from them, and how each feast offers a powerful picture of the Messiah. Others caution that these were part of the Old Covenant—and that trying to reintroduce them risks slipping into legalism, or even confusion about our identity in Christ.

So what’s the right posture here?

Are we honoring the biblical narrative—or drifting into spiritual nostalgia?

Is this about deepening our faith—or chasing an experience?

And at what point does “remembering the roots” start to blur the distinction between the Old and New Covenant?

These festivals were designed to point forward to Christ… but if we’re on this side of the cross, what role—if any—should they play in our lives today?

“For some, it’s about connection. For others, it feels like contradiction. But either way, it’s a conversation the modern Church keeps returning to.”
