I just wanted to come here and say, all is well. Our life here on this earth is transitory. We are strangers and pilgrims and call heaven our home. As events unfold, let them not take our peace away. Our peace is determined by our choices. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:1) Let’s let not our hearts be troubled. All is well even if it looks like it isn’t.
As believers - any sort of believer - we have no choice but to keep telling ourselves this and at least trying to believe it. In a human history of relentless wars, famines, natural tragedies, the Holocaust and all the rest, however, it does become a challenge. It is particularly challenging when we are not merely watching events unfold but experiencing them - whether in Israel/Gaza, Ukraine or Auschwitz. I do happen to believe it, but I also believe “all is well” in some sense different from the conventional explanation of fallen humanity, Satan and his demons, and an omnibenevolent God who desires for all to be saved but allows it to unfold as it has. 1+1+1 in this case just doesn’t add up to 3, IMHO.
Indeed. When I look at this broken world, it isn’t well. But as we live with the Lord, it is. It is a concept that escapes our five senses but calms the spirit when the world is upside down.
I’m reminded of the hymn “it is Well (with my soul)”
The peace with God surpasses human understanding because
God is in a glorious perfect realm in heaven and there is order and Perfection and righteousness there.
The chaos of our world does not shake heaven
We have an anchor for our soul sure and steadfast (Heb 6:19)
…The Lord Jesus
Jesus said we will have tribulation in this world but we should take heart because He has overcome this world
If you believe Romans 8:28 and Romans 8:38
Then we only fear the Lord God; and if we have peace with God then there’s nothing to worry about regarding our Eternal future so then in faith we can have the love of God that casts out all fear and live like the Lord Jesus unafraid to do what is good to bless people to pray to God and intercede for the chaos we see around us
Remember Jesus was in the boat asleep and has power to call me even the storm so he’s more than able to speak peace to our souls…
and a lot of the burdens we carry, we are not meant to carry
Be anxious for nothing pray about everything
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6 ESV
John 14:26-27 KJV
[26]But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
[27]Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Amen!
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid”
