I’m in need of prayers to our God that He will give me the wisdom and strength to be a good father to my son and daughter. Sometimes I feel as if I take the role of being a good father for granted and don’t appreciate the blessing of having two wonderful children. I ask for your prayers so that I may become a better “dad” for those who count on me the most to lead them into a better future. Cornelius F.
Some verses to meditate on. It is important to realize that children are a gift from God.
“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man, so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” Psalm 127:3-5
Also in Psalms.
"Blessed is everyone that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel." Psalm 128:1-6
This is why it is so outrageous whenever you hear of a parent abusing their own children. A child is the most precious gift one can have. You need to teach them all things. How you teach them is how they will go.
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” {Proverbs 22:6}
However, be aware of this one thing. If you lead by example, they will follow. They will do more like you DO than of what you say.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly, firgy1. Just the fact that you’re praying this prayer and asking for support shows the heart of a loving, committed father. That kind of humility and intention already sets a powerful example for your kids.
Fatherhood can feel heavy at times; the responsibility, the pressure, the desire to get it right. But you’re not carrying it alone. God equips those He calls, and He called you to be their dad. No one else.
Praying that He gives you strength when you’re tired, clarity when you’re unsure, and joy in the daily moments that can be easy to miss. May your children grow up secure in your love and even more deeply rooted in His.
You’re not alone on this path. Glad you’re here.
