The real enemy is Satan. How do I pray for him? Are we to pray for him? This is confusing..so I’m throwing it out there, genuinely interested in what everyone thinks

we shall pray for al our enemies

That’s a really honest question, and I’m glad you asked it, a lot of people wonder the same thing.

Scripture does call us to pray for our enemies, but the context is always human enemies, people who hurt us, oppose us, or act unjustly. Jesus teaches us to love our enemies because they, too, are image-bearers of God who can repent and be redeemed.

Satan is different. He isn’t a person who can turn back to God; he’s a fallen angel who has already made a definitive choice against God. The Bible never instructs us to pray for him, only to pray against his schemes and to ask God for protection, wisdom, and strength.

So yes, we pray for all our human enemies, but when it comes to Satan, our role is to stand firm, resist temptation, and cling to Christ, who has already defeated him.

That’s how I understand it, and I’d love to hear others’ thoughts too.

I like this question. I say yes, go for it. Pray for him. What could it hurt?

Pray to God for Mercy for all of those fallen angels. And that somehow they might turn away from a path focussed on rebellion, temptation, accusation, damnation, and destruction. And pray that, somehow, their hearts might be changed, transformed, and turned toward God for repentance and attonement. To align with the Will and LOVE of God.

The reason why I say this is that it is counted as righteousness to pray for our enemies. And I don’t mean with hostility, pride, or in a condescending way like , “ I am better than you.” No, I mean with genuine care for their well being.

And it is not so much about who or what (in this case) we are praying Mercy or Salvation toward but your own heart’s ability to do so. Especially when that person or Being stands directly against you.

You see, a heart that desires to seek and save the lost, no matter who or what is lost, is a heart that follows after Christ and is filled with the Holy Spirit. Cherish the LOVE that moves you in this life, because it makes all life new.
